The elite of the country

There are some mystical political figures (that's what I call them) in the international firmament, of Bulgarian origin, which I'm sure you've all heard of. And recent international events have once again reminded me of this topic, which has personally concerned me for several years, i.e. it opens my closed eyes and makes me think, reflect, evaluate and choose. Despite my will.
Although I don't want to be interested and I'm not interested in politics, my partial revelations are quite mind-blowing, I would say, and sad at the same time. And they are necessary, I'm sure.

The recently elevated international figure, Nikolay Mladenov, you know, the one who was appointed by the United States as High Representative for Gaza and tasked with leading the newly formed Board of Peace, is actually not a mystery anymore. He is the status quo. The way it has always been. He is part of the system, the way it is, and the way most people don't actually know it is.
His father was a member of the former state security during communism. His uncle was a diplomat. That says it all. Then the boy's life starts... up the ladder and only up.

I don't know if anyone can understand what I mean, but in short, every Bulgarian politician who has risen to some degree, on the one hand, looks mystical in the eyes of other people, but on the other, one simply has to dig into his past. And basically ask the most important question - who is his father.

I recently happened to ask this question about several people who have risen to the political top, all of whom had fathers who were members of the communist state security service. The child completes his/her education, usually at the most elite high school in the capital, then goes to study abroad, usually in England or America, and after his or her education, they begin service in high positions here and there, executive director, member of the supervisory board, manager, here and there, in large companies, state-owned or international, diplomats, bankers, politicians, European commissioners, international representatives...
All of them with extremely obvious communist ancestry from a regime "overthrown" 36 years ago.

All parties, small or large, with all sorts of new names, such as "democratic", "change", "revival" and what not, are full of such people, not to mention their chairmen. The mayor of the capital has such an ancestry too. And this is a fact, part of the biography that is mentioned on Wikipedia in the same way that about international personalities they explicitly mention their Jewish origin there. As if to explain everything else in their lives with this one single fact - origin or affiliation, or former service, as in this case.

And these same people, who were part of the communist elite in the past, are part of the "elite" at the moment, the elite of "change", the elite of "democracy", they rule, they reign, they distribute the goods, if they have ever distributed any goods to anyone other than themselves. Because perhaps you know how ominous this regime is, in which a person's life is not important, in which the mass of people must always be kept uneducated, poor and hungry, so that they think all day long only about how to earn money to put bread on their table, while the elite revels and hoards all the money for themselves.

Knowing this today, delving into the past of our rulers, called by all these misleading names like "change" and "democracy", I know that the fate of the country is predetermined and everything is in its place, it is as it can and should be when the country is mired in the hands of renamed communists. And you can imagine how much I enjoyed reading all this - how someone's life goes from ups to ups, from an extremely high position to another extremely high position, from an extremely high-paying position to another extremely high-paying position. And so inexplicable and unfounded at the same time. Do I need to mention why I feel this way, after years of not being able to find a job and things in this country seemed impossible to me and they are impossible. Only possible for the children of the elite of the past. Which is not small in number, but ultimately I don't know what percentage of the entire population it is, and how representative a sample it could be.

The most mysterious figure I can think of, however, internationally known and recognized, you all know about her, is Kristаlina Georgieva, the director of the International Monetary Fund. And mysterious because there is nothing mentioned about her in Wikipedia regarding any communist past. But... Her life was exactly the same as all the children of the communist elite. She studied even during communism before 1989 in London, which was unthinkable for ordinary people. But her father was a civil engineer, and her mother was a shopkeeper, no connections with state security. But... There was an article from 2016 that claimed that a foreign journalist had claimed that she herself had been recruited by state security while she was a student, along with other prominent figures in the political arena. And that's how it all began. Peak after peak, until she reached CEO of the World Bank, European Commissioner for Bulgaria, Vice President of the World Bank, and Chairman of the International Monetary Fund.

Another mystical similar figure is another woman, with the rather Russian name Sаsha Bezuhanоvа, whose life has developed in exactly the same way - peak after peak. Recently, news broke of the greatest Bulgarian success in entrepreneurship - a young woman who sold her business for 55 million euros. It's not that I don't believe in the possibility of success in Bulgaria at all. But somehow it was expected that the mother of this young girl would be the aforementioned lady. A lady whose life has developed in a mind-blowingly successful way immediately after completing her education. And after all the representative positions, director, member of the board of directors of an extremely large number of companies and organizations, she is even the honorary consul of Luxembourg in Bulgaria.

Her Wikipedia page mentions absolutely nothing about her parents, and nothing could lead to any thought about it. But her entire biography actually suggests it, the only thing mentioned about her on the Internet is that her brother was connected to state security in the past. But things here are much deeper and much more complicated, I'm sure. And very scary at that.

Because these are certainly not the most capable people, they were simply lucky to be born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

We are not talking about any aristocracy when we talk about Bulgaria. There is no such class here. I don't know what happened to the descendants of the former kings in the far past, but the current ones are not of Bulgarian origin. That's why they don't count.

Our aristocracy is made up of children of murderers, criminals, thieves and informers who don't respect the life of an individual. And I want us to have a working health system. Or good education. Or normal salaries that aren't humiliating. 🤷‍♀️ How could this be ever possible?

But the scariest thing is that the people don't even care who the people are who rule them, who run for office again and again under one or another new name. Even if someone is exposed in the media by vigilant citizens or journalists, it is quickly forgotten, swept under the carpet, denied, or said that it is not important.
While these same people collect the money that comes from the European Union, appoint their own people and relatives to high positions with high salaries, keep people's salaries at a very low level, vilify everything they touch, and claim that they do everything in the name of the people.

steem.jpgSoul's Detour is a project started by me years ago when I had a blog about historical and not so popular tourist destinations in Eastern Belgium, West Germany and Luxembourg. Nowadays, this blog no longer exists, but I'm still here - passionate about architecture, art and mysteries and eager to share my discoveries and point of view with you.

Personally, I am a sensitive soul with a strong sense of justice.
Traveling and photography are my greatest passions.
Sounds trivial to you?
No, it's not trivial. Because I still love to travel to not so famous destinations.🗺️
Of course, the current situation does not allow me to do this, but I still find a way to satisfy my hunger for knowledge, new places, beauty and art.
Sometimes you can find the most amazing things even in the backyard of your house.😊🧐🧭|
