The way things happen
When it comes to Eurovision, I think of all the inexplicable things related to the EU that can't even be distinguished that clearly in my mind, they are a hazy mess of hidden facts that everyone accepts but can't explain. Should I mention the latest treaties and deals, the Mercosur agreement, defense spending, mandatory vaccines and whatnot? Eurovision seems like the crowning glory of it all. (Oh, don't tell me Eurovision is actually not related to EU, because for me, it pretty much is.) Something light and beautiful, a fiesta, a freak show, in fact, whose purpose is as unclear as its very existence. And if this is the entertainment part of the whole organization (is there any other such offshoot of the great minds of this union), then perhaps we should think about what the serious part is then?😁
Well, I won't talk about conspiracy theories, I think we don't have much to say here, things are as they are. As it is in my country, as I tried to briefly tell you with examples in my previous post. Things are as they are and cannot be changed. No matter how angry someone gets, no matter how much they claim that this is outrageous, that this cannot be so, that this cannot be true. It is true, and beyond.
Things cannot be changed with a magic wand. In fact, they cannot be changed at all. No matter what anyone says, thinks, or imagines. And in this sense, Eurovision in Bulgaria is also a reflection of Bulgaria, of the essence of the country and its governance, as I told you briefly in the previous post, because there are actually no details. And these details would be quite terrifying. Maybe on a local level, but also on a union level. Don't you think that people can't be changed? It's also hard to change their tendency to greed, which spoils everything, denigrates everything it touches. And when a person finds himself in a position of power, he changes instantly. For the worse. And he can never go back to being good. And maybe that's exactly why this show is so inexplicable to ordinary people, those who haven't touched power, this destructive force. We just can't grasp, do not understand. And it is good to be so.
I won't bother to explain things in detail, they are not clear and known to anyone anyway, nor can they be explained. I can only list in points how things have been developing in the country since it became clear that we had to participate in this predetermined competition this year. The fact that many other countries have just refused to participate, and Bulgaria is just now joining, is another shameful fact, but Bulgaria has done many shameful and again inexplicable things recently, so this is the least that can happen. And again, I am aware that no one, or at least only a very small number of people, realize what is happening, are interested in why it is happening, the rest simply accept everything as the status quo, which is what it really is.
Eurovision, like everything that happens in the union, is a political deal (Oh yeah, the union that organizes is, the EBU, is apolitical!😃), the only thing that matters here is money and benefits. As I have said before, if there were no benefits from this, the EU would not have accepted the poorest, most corrupt and miserable country on the continent into its ranks at all. This is not even a mystery. It's just one big corrupt deal that benefits a handful of people at the top.
But let's get back to the current situation. I don't remember what day or what month it was when they announced on TV that the country would be represented by two female singers. One is black, who, you know, is completely up to the standards of this European contest. As for the other singer, honestly, I immediately asked myself if she was g^y, because that is the main requirement, criterion and prerequisite for success, if not even a prerequisite for participation.
Don't be too quick to judge me. There aren't many black people in Bulgaria, and that's completely understandable for such a poor and undesirable country. There are children from such mixed marriages, or more precisely, relationships, from men who once came here to study medicine or something else, who after having a few children, just left. And although these children from mixed marriages almost always end up being quite successful in life, mainly because of their diversity, they are an extremely small percentage of the country's population, so that people could accept them easily, without surprise. And the other thing I said, about the other type of successful people, I won't explain, we all know about this condition and prerequisite for success in life.
So, they just announced one day the singers who were going to represent the country and I was like, Oh, okay. I'm not going to watch this "thing" this year anyway.
But after a while something else was announced on television. They announced a contest. A whole contest with 15 participants. There would even be an audience vote, something that had never happened in previous years and previous Eurovision appearances by the country. And then I was like: Wait a minute, they already said who will represent us, what is this competition and what is it for? 🤔
That's why I forced myself to watch it. You know, I like to be informed, and even if I don't like something, I would look at it from all sides, from one side and the other, to know what's going on.
And my assumptions were confirmed here. All they showed on television was some hastily made-up script and a scene where funny things were played out.
There was a jury of 5 hastily assembled people. People who had never been a jury for anything, that was obvious. 4 of them had musical culture, experience and education, but the selection among all the Bulgarian representatives of these circles was particularly strange. The fifth person was the strangest find - the director of the national radio, who is a lawyer, and about whom the only comment they had made under the photo of his presentation on FB was - "Simple and extremely corrupt." Even just this one person can lead to the thought of how and why the other four were gathered, of whom, although musicians, only one person, and the only woman at that, allowed herself to express an opinion, to give advice, to point out that something was wrong with one singer's singing.
When in reality, nothing was right with everyone's singing that evening. And this evening I found out that none of our singers can sing when they have to sing live. Some even seemed to do it on purpose - to sing out of tune.
Honestly, I don't have a musician's ear, but if even I heard it, then it was really bad. And I won't even talk about the miserable state of the Bulgarian music scene and why it is in this miserable state. This is about the mafia and conspiracy theories, although in which country is the entertainment business not controlled by the mafia or at least by some very rich people who orchestrate everything?
Boring, unmemorable songs - stupid lyrics and an unimpressive arrangement. Honestly, I suspect that even that man, the only Bulgarian musician who was ever able to impress me, Yavor Kirin, is part of this mafia and this conspiracy to prevent good and quality music from being produced in Bulgaria. If only because he himself has long since retired from the scene. And because of what he does after retiring from the stage. But that's another, complicated topic and story.
So, boring and unmemorable songs, if you've heard one, it's like you've heard them all. The singers sing badly, they don't even try to do it well. And yet, during their presentaion, they say that participating in Eurovision is the dream of their life, that they've dreamed of this privilege since they were little.
I found this statement especially funny when made by established performers, those with numerous concerts behind them or who were opening singers for international stars, Ed Sheeran for example.
Everything sounded extremely imbecile, very immature and absolutely illogical.
Then the impotent singing. As if no one really wanted to represent Bulgaria at Eurovision, you know 😂 Or it is simply already known who the winners will be, as things have always happened in Bulgaria.
But the organizers told them - look, it can't be like this, things don't work that way here. So they organized a competition and recruited people to play roles. Some play the roles of ambitious singers who "have dreamed of appearing in this competition all their lives". Others play the roles of the jury. The roles of the jury were particularly poorly performed, the participants were simply not well prepared, there was no time to prepare them, perhaps. Either they were forced. Or they were not paid. I don't know what was the reason for their such bad performance.
But the quota was met. They even invited Roma to participate. Maybe this is also a requirement from Europe, and Bulgaria has always protected the rights of minorities more than the rights of the other population, but this is a different and long topic again. So, the quota was met, everyone was in their places, playing their roles, the money given by the organizers was used properly, there was some kind of voting on a specially created website. There was some kind of ranking, half of the participants dropped out...
But to be honest, I don't even know what happened, my interest ended maybe halfway through the show, when it was revealed that people/voices were actually being chosen as representatives this evening, not a song. A song was going to be written later.
Well, that just proved my theory that everything was staged. How could you choose a person to represent a singing competition when, in reality, the song is the most important thing here? A song can be sung beautifully by a not-so-gifted singer and sung terribly by a super-talented performer. Simply because that song is not for him. And here, in Bulgaria, on this occasion, and on all other occasions... I have no reason to believe that anything good, honest, and respectable can happen anywhere, let alone be truly well and professionally done. Because everything done is a reflection of the essence of the country and its governance.
As someone wrote in a comment on FB: "I hope you get eliminated in the first round of Eurovision, you unfortunate people."
