Little did we know that in the community, more than half the population are actually still baffled as to what and how witnesses work in the steem as a blockchain. STEEM witnesses play a vital role in the platform. Aside from they literally are visible talking to us on different discord channels, steem and different group chats even more interactive on the comment sections of our every tiny posts. They actually have this vital priority of keeping the STEEM blockchain run evenly. Witnesses basically have this special server processing all the basic things done in the platform like upvoting, commenting, resteeming and any other transactions in a timely manner. The witnesses do all the necessary developments in the steem blockchain. They are basically the so called maintainers and defenders of the STEEM.

Let's take upvoting as an example, same thing on facebook. If someone likes a posts, it normally takes a second to process and recorded with the help of the programmers and developers paid by the company. In the steem blockchain, the witnesses with their personal computers really try their best to not miss a block to avoid system interruptions and for users to have a hassle free experience.

As the power of decentralization, we elect in the community the people to be in the governance body. Good thing that there's more than witnesses currently are securing the copies of the steem blockchain. If the other shuts down due to fortuitous events or cyber glitches and etc. For sure, there are still others who ensure to have the system running smoothly. And so again, what keeps the blogging platform "steemit.com" running is that the blocks being produced by the blockchain which we internally called as STEEM. With the help of the witnesses the steem blockchain produces blocks with the corresponding rounds. And the witnesses also balances the pros and cons of every decision that is going to be made in the platform.

There's a limit to thirty votes that a user can vote on their witnesses. We all have different basis on whom and why we vote these 30 witnesses. I am obviously promoting surpassinggoogles' "steemgigs" for his undying support for the Filipino community. I can still even remember the very first time I joined steemit and made my first few posts. He is the one who consistently comments on my posts and encourages me to do better in the platform. At first, I was really unknowing and ignorant of how all these things work in the platform. I even came to the point wherein I lost all my hope for I barely see the point of staying in the community because no matter how I try my best to have my works recognized but still I barely get it. When I had a talk with sir Terry on discord and taught me a lot of things that there's actually more the platform has to offer more than just an upvote. It's undeniable that sir Terry has changed so many Filipino lives. I am still in awe on how he supports these people with different life stories and reasons to tell why they have to do steemit. I am truly grateful to @surpassinggoogle for the continuous inspirational support that he is giving the community. It's undeniable that he is the major witness that is supporting the whole Filipino community with much greater upvote in most our posts.
