RE: So much shite and spam posted here.....

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Wow, great post. I'm glad that someone who isn't one of the "big boys" had the balls to say it.

Actually I find most of the things posted on this site completely unbearable. I comment on people's posts of for example annotated pictures or photographs asking questions which I hope will encourage people to realise that a post should be more than a simple cut and paste job, that it actually requires a bit of work, but this very frequently seems to filter through. How much effort does it really take to add a description and some basic information to a picture or youtube video (which these people didn't create, FFudgeS).

There are people on here getting away with all sorts of copyright infringement and plagiarism and I think that in the long term the owners of Steemit will have to pay for this major flaw because posts can not be completely deleted.

Another really major issue is self voting and nepotism amongst the more powerful members the trend of which leads curation scavengers to upvote posts that most teachers wouldn't accept from primary school children and all of this is hidden behind a cringeworthy veneer of politeness that people maintain on this site in the hopes of being liked and appreciated.

I personally don't bother to post anymore. I'm happy not to waste hours of my life writing and illustrating original content which won't be seen or commented upon anyway in favour of plagiarised content and cut and paste work. Nowadays I just read other people's posts and comment on that.

Thats what I would have said if I was as good with words as you my friend.

You made a very good point. Perhaps trolling the obviously fake and copy posts is one answer, and Im in total agreement about just commenting. Being reactive as opposed to proactive is a way to still join in the debate, although the secret handshake club is always going to rankle.

Despite 23 views, this post has no comment from the old school Steemians. I may just search a few out and tag them to try and illicit a response.

Maybe you should do that and see if the debate about the issues with Steemit can continue to gain traction or be at least be revived. I know that @adm and @steemcleaners were working on the issue of spam as per This post.
