Get to Know Other Steemians with Steem Analytics
Today I am introducing a new Shiny App that uses Appbase and Analytics powered by the open source R programming language.
- If your a casual or new Steemian this App may help you get to know other Steemians.
- If your a professional blogger features of the site will help you analyse your engagement and posting history on Steem(/it).
Casual & New Steemians
Weekends are great for catching up on your Steemit activity. Did you know there are now 964k accounts and about 65k daily users?
This is fantastic but it means that it is not always easy to keep up with your friends activity.
This Shiny web app helps you browse any Steem Users posting history. It will help you get to know them a bit better, and easily find some of their more seminal posts.
Professional Bloggers
Have you spent time typing numbers into spreadsheets to analyse your posting activity?
This Shiny web app helps you analyse your posting history and engagement. It will help you get to know your supporters and readers better and it will also let you download the data from your posts in an excel spreadsheet. (These features are coming soon)
Version 1
Full Posting History
When you enter a username the app searches for all the posts by the user (from Appbase) and displays them visually. Each dot represents a post. The size represents the number of comments, colour the number of votes and y axis the payout.
This really gives you an insight into which were the seminal posts by each author as well as their level of activity. We see @dantheman hasn't posted in some time!
High Level Stats & Introduce Yourself Post
Many people are interested in their payouts. This page shows some averages so you can see how much a users posts earned over time.
Figures are not adjusted for changes in Steem Price and show the full post payout
On this page I will be adding visual tools to help professional (or any) Steem blogger analyse their user engagement over time.
Another useful item you will notice on this page is a link to the users posts tagged with introduceyourself, introducemyself or introduction. What better way to get to know someone than reading their introduction?
Links to All Posts (Searchable)
This is a really useful part of Steem Analytics. It lets you see all the posts a user has made and search and sort them to drill down. I will be adding a feature to download this list in excel, but in the meantime you can copy and paste the data.
Roadmap
I plan to add many features to help you explore users activity and analyse your own posting activity.
- Tags used
- Voting history (i.e. supporters)
- Recent Payout Stats, Weekly, Monthly etc.
- Comment Activity (Similar format but relating to comments on other peoples posts)
This site is a work in progress and I plan on adding many useful features such as visual representations of tag used and voters over time. Please also let me know if you spot any bugs or if there are any features you would like to see added.
The site is live today try it out over the weekend and let me know what you think!
Thank you for reading this. I write on Steemit about Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and Travel.
That's really cool. Being able to go straight to the introduction is useful. I'd hope that could be built into Steemit, or Steem Plus. Thanks for this
I'll hopefully get a chance to try this out over the weekend @eroche. Looks like you're doing a great job.
however, it might be next week before I get around to it as we're looking after grandkids tomorrow and going out for John's birthday on Sunday.
Have a fun weekend!
There may be new features next week so it will be even better :)
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend. I am off to a Steemit meetup in Dublin tomorrow, looking forward to the weekend. Enjoy the Birthday and the rest of the weeknd.
Thanks @eroche. Have fun at the meetup. I'm going to one on Monday too. 😁
Really interesting features. This app could be very useful. At the time the planned features will be allready added your app propably will be commonly used by Steemians. It's nice to see people engaged in this platform releasing new useful stuff.Keep it up sir😋
The graph with the dots is amazing!!! Really useful and promising.
I miss since long the app steemwhales, do you plan to add some analytics as it had? Historical charts I mean
Thanks for the feedback.
I will add anything that you think may be useful (and that is readily available). Which historical graphs were there on Steem Whales that your looking for?
I'm speaking about the Reputation/time, followers/time, Steempower/time etc...
I'll see what I can do. I should be able to get some of those, not sure about reputation over time. That is more difficult to get.
Awesome! I have opened it up now and added to favorites to remind me to have a look over the weekend :) thanks @eroche it looks like a really good tool.
Fantastic, glad you like it. Let me know if there is anything you would like to see to improve it.
Will do!
I think it will be very helpful to the stemians. Because they can access all data bases, and can see their account activity. And more interested can read in spread sheet. Thanks for your hard work, to help the stemians.
That's amazing! I didn't know that you wrote it when you were showing it to me. Very useful info and really quick at retrieving the data. By the way, I still owe you a drink.
Thanks, glad it's useful. You can get me back at the next meetup 👍
Good app.Thanks
This is unreal Ed, well done man. Are you a full time dev or do you just do it as a hobbie?
Hi Ciaran, thanks so much. I am not a full time Dev, Analytics is my thing but playing around with code is a bit of a hobby.
There is a meetup on today in the Crypto Cafe from 4, in Dublin, if you are around be sure to drop in.
Ah no way, have a great time man, I would be more into going now that I'm that my blog is actually becoming something, and I have something to talk about haha. I'm having a lot more fun on Steemit the last few weeks. Enjoy today, I'll keep an eye out for some photos.
I see your doing really well lately. That is brilliant. Look forward to seeing you at a meetup soon. We usually have them on the last Saturday of the month, starting in the cafe then heading to a pub. We will post photos on @steem-dublin.
Thanks man, I'm enjoying it a lot, I've been obsessed the last few weeks, researching all sorts of things. I can't believe how in the dark I was about all the different apps and features you can use around Steemit. I look forward to meeting you guys some day.
Dear @eroche, that is interesting apps. I have a quesion regarding steem?
Where does the name of Steem come from, exactly?
Thank you
Steem is the currency of the platform that I am running the analytics on. I am not sure where the currency got its name.
Thank you
