Steemit "The Social Media Slayer"

Welcome my fellow Steem family. First and foremost I would like to thank the creators of this awesome platform. The growth on here for me has been amazing and I am still growing.

Today I would like to give my awesome readers my reasons why Steemit is the place to be and not Facebook.

Facebook Inc is an online social media service based in California. Facebook was launched on February 4, 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg. Today Facebook enjoys an unprecedented dominance in the social media realm, but that might not last indefinitely. With over 1.7 billion monthly active users, it is no hyperbole to say that Facebook is the king of social media. Consider that the global population is around 8 billion. Based on this statistic, nearly a quater percent of the world is actively using Facebook. The social media king completely destroys its publicly traded rivals. Take a look at Twitter Inc, its monthly active users total only 319 million. Snap Inc’s, Snapchat app is doing much worse. Last year, it managed less than 7% of active Facebook users. Altough Snapchat is marketed towards the younger demographic, FB is still killing Snap in that area. So with such dominance in this indursty why should Facebook fear the "Social Media Kingslayer", Steemit!!!

Facebook is a technology company as well, and this sector is incredibly volatile. As great as Facebook is it cannot afford to be complacent. A major, potential risk to the social media king's dominance is a blogging and social networking website called Steemit.

What makes Steemit unique from the other social media garbage is that it runs on its own blockchain-powered cryptocurrency called Steem.

Steemit's concept is straight foward and simple, users publish a blog post (it could be on any topic), then other users can upvote, resteem, or comment on other users content. The twist is every upvote users gain they are given a small amount of steem power. Steem power represents the amount of influence a user has compared to the rest of the network. The more you have, the more power your upvote has to move someone else’s post up. Steem power can also be converted to steem dollars. Steem dollars are assets which are intended to be pegged to the United States dollar. Steem Dollars can be traded at cryptocurrency exchanges, and used for payments for goods and services

With Steemit, you get paid to do what you normally do on Facebook for free. Images can be uploaded and hosted on Steemit as well as other multimedia content. Users are also rewarded for curating popular content.
