If You've Ever Been Flagged On Steemit For Silly Reasons, My New Video Is For You
Today I was teaching my daughter how to do basic programming using Scratch and after her lesson was over, I made an absurd video about the phenomenon of Flag Wars on Steemit.
If you've ever been engaged in a flag war (and by now, that's a decent-sized percentage of us), you will definitely relate to it. I made it using a very basic kids' programming software called Scratch and videoshop.
I think we need a new button on Steemit: I DISAGREE. Then that button would not collapse the posts, but just show how mad one truly is. The flagging is being abused daily.....there has to be a better way!
For those of you who want to teach some beginning programming concepts to your child, Scratch is a good one to start out with. Also, it doesn't take any advanced programming knowledge: https://scratch.mit.edu/
Additionally, you can use the program online so you don't have to download anything.

the flagging is out of hand. The only time I'm in favor of it is when it's used to diminish the earnings of actual, real-life scammers.......

I've never been flagged, but pfunk had a post where the reward was supposed to be shared amongst the people who found out about jpiper's plagiarism. The post was a long, thorough and fair post about the incident, and it got flagged because: Because! There is a need for flagging plagiators and abusers, but when flagging it should only be done for the reasons stated in the pop-up box: fraud, hate or spam.
This actually per definition means that flagging back is wrong. The system is as far as I understand originally an upvote/downvote system, and the flag is really just a downvote. That should be changed. A flag should not be wealth-regulated either. Poor people can be just as right in fighting wrongs as rich people...
