Just some quick photos of Coin Shop Currency - HAWAII - Silver Certificate - One Dollar

I picked up this HAWAII - Silver Certificate - One Dollar from a local coin shop. It cost $8.00.
This is very circulated.

WHERE DO YOU THINK THIS BILL HAS BEEN ?

BROWN SEAL - SILVER CERTIFICATE - ONE DOLLAR

This bill has collectible value with a value of Eight dollars, or up to Twenty dollars (for nicer conditions). This bill is worth only Eight dollars because this bill is very circulated, actually beaten pretty rough. Where do you think this bill has been?
It looks cool with its Brown Seal and Brown Serial Numbers and HAWAII written on front and back.

HAWAII

This bill was created and specific to the island of Hawaii. They were created after the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was created to be identifiable if it needed to devalued. There was concern during World War II that Japan may take over the islands.
This bill was probably circulated amongst service members. It likely returned from Hawaii in the wallet of a soldier.
Where do you think this bill could have been?

SILVER CERTIFICATE STATEMENT

The One Dollar Silver Certificate states

  • "THIS CERTIFIES THAT THERE IS ON DEPOSIT IN THE TREASURY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ONE DOLLAR IN SILVER PAYABLE TO THE BEARER ON DEMAND"

Here are the pictures...

Another new one to me. Thanks.

It's new to me too. Thanks for the reply.

Supercool @goldkey — i’ve heard of those but never seen one 😎👍

This is pretty cool. I had not heard of them. Now, I thought that I wanted one in better condition. However, as it turns out, I like this one in its worn condition. It really makes me think about where it could have been. I wonder how much of history did this bill experience in Hawaii and maybe throughout the Pacific during WWII.

That's for the history lesson and photos. The good ole' days when a Federal Reserve Note was at least worth a dollar of silver...........What is it worth today, about $0.03. Not a fair exchange, but in your case, it is worth a half an ounce of silver.

The greater beauty is that this is NOT a Federal Reserve Note. It is a SILVER CERTIFICATE. There have been lots of different types: US Note, National Currency, Silver Certificate and the Federal Reserve Note. It is the Federal Reserve Notes from the Federal Reserve Bank that we pay interest upon.

Thanks @rewards-pool, I'm splashing around.

I was at a museum recently and they had 2 bills that were literally falling apart but I still found them very interesting because of the things they went through. image

OH WOW! Those are amazing. Thanks for showing them. I will have to look those up.
