USA!! USA!! USA!! The American Silver Eagle.

The American Silver Eagle is the heavy hitter of the bullion world. Launched in 1986, it was designed to give investors a reliable way to buy physical silver backed by the U.S. government. Each coin contains exactly one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. While it technically has a face value of one dollar, its real worth is tied to the "spot price" of silver, which usually makes it much more valuable than a standard buck.

What makes this coin a favorite for collectors isn't just the metal—it's the art. The front (obverse) features the iconic "Walking Liberty" design by Adolph A. Weinman, showing Lady Liberty draped in the American flag as she strides toward a rising sun. It’s widely considered one of the most beautiful designs in the history of American coinage, originally appearing on the half-dollar back in 1916.

The back of the coin recently got a major makeover. For 35 years, it featured a classic heraldic eagle, but in 2021, the Mint introduced the "Type 2" design. This new look shows a more naturalistic bald eagle coming in for a landing, clutching an oak branch. Whether you're stacking them in tubes for an investment or buying a polished "Proof" version for a display case, the Silver Eagle remains the gold standard (pun intended) for silver enthusiasts worldwide

There was also another reason why these Silver Eagles were introduced… It’s been a very well kept secret, until I figured it out…
