7/6/2020 Entry to the Steemit Diary Game - Steem Greet and Music for Steem

in #the100daysofsteem4 years ago

Hello everyone! Yesterday was not as busy of a day in terms of going places, but it was certainly busy with doing Steem stuff. Let's get into my life:

My Life

I woke up yesterday around 9am, and went through the photos from the previous night. In order to post the entry, I had to wait for @esouthern3 to send me her photos, so I surfed the web for a while, and played bed wars with a friend briefly. After doing that, Emma had sent the photos so I wrote the diary entry. I did get a little distracted at that point, however. I wrote a post about my experiences as a Steem Greeter on facebook to tell my friends about Steem's capabilities. Here's what I wrote:

Hi, I just wanted to write a post out really quick delving into my recent experiences on Steem.

Many of you who know me have known that I have been a die hard Steem fanatic for several years. This year, a lot of political stuff has happened that has caused a lot of the people I knew from America and Europe to leave. I had the choice of leaving, too, or trying to rebuild the platform. I decided to try to build a new community, and applied for the role of a "Steem Greeter" with a delegation from Steemit.

My fellow greeters and I have been establishing a community for new users to post responses to a system of achievements that we designed. This community is paying out almost 800 dollars this week to the new users posting in it, and will hopefully grow to pay out more as more users join.

What has blown my mind is how effective Steem is at changing the lives of so many people in so many cultures. We in America might not think of a 5 dollar post payout as a lot, but for someone in Nigeria or Venezuela, those posts add up, and create a reliable source of income. Many users from these countries are able to pay for their necessities using the money they earn from their posts on Steem, and many of them are posting using google translate through a mobile phone, and dealing with a lot of hardship while doing it.

In addition to this, I have seen such a diverse array of people. I have seen new users from Bangladesh, new users from India, new users from Venezuela, and many other countries. I have seen new users who are 16 years old, and a remarkable introduction from an 81 year old Venezuelan man the other day (I am including that because it was so inspiring).

Conclusion:
What I am saying through all of this is that Steem is a very useful source of income and community for a lot of people in the world. I hope that its influence will grow, and that some of my American friends will consider giving Steem a chance.

I then linked to @panflor's introduction post.

Many of the people in my life have ignored Steem for years despite what I've said of it. I thought it might be because the payouts are not that much in comparison to their families' income. I figured I would write a post describing how helpful Steem can be (And has been) for people whose families do not see as much income. In addition, Steem's community now is naturally much more diverse than ever before! I hope some of my friends will read that, and consider joining Steem!

Anyway, after writing that post, I finished my diary entry and posted. I then showered. After showering, I began reading through new users' posts in my category in Steem Greet. There were a lot of posts to go through, and before I knew it I had gotten the Greeter account down to 80 percent. So I left some of the other posts to curate when the power had recharged. I was a little disappointed yesterday because I found a plagiarized article. I hope new users will not try to take advantage of the Steem Greet community. If any are reading this, know that I am checking for plagiarism and abuse. Many people are always asking how to earn more in payouts on posts. Step one is to make an original post. Copying and pasting something from an outside source does nothing for Steem so why should it be rewarded?

I spent several hours doing that yesterday, and still have many articles to read through when the voting power has recharged. After finishing that, I counted out how many weeks it will be from when we leave for college until December break. @esouthern3 and I are planning on prerecording enough songs to post each week for Music for Steem between now and then. I counted that it is 16, and texted Emma that we each get to pick 8 songs. I picked my 8, and created a google calendar with the songs and which week they will be posted. Emma still has to pick her songs, and we have to get to prerecording (and I have to get to learning them. . . )

After doing that, I watched YouTube for a bit, and then decided to learn the music that we are recording today for Music for Steem. I got distracted while trying to print the songs though, and read through other songs in a book I have (which I have planned as some of my songs). Eventually, I did print them, and learned the first. I still have to read through the second, but I believe I will be able to. I practiced until it was time to get dinner.

At that point (around 7:30pm) my dad and I drove out to Chick Fil A to get dinner. We got back around 8pm, and ate. My family then decided to watch an episode of Yellowstone. It was not that good. It did have a wolf in it, so here is a picture of a wolf:

After that, Emma and I talked until about 11:30pm. We played Minecraft Bed Wars until about 11pm, and then just talked over house party. Again, yesterday was not that interesting to read about, so thanks for reading!

@cmp2020, I'm honored by the mention in your publication. This makes me proud and committed to grow more every day as a person, user and animate who populates this great ecosystem.

Thank you, my friend.

American here, finally was able to login today after waiting about a month I believe! I joined because I think it's an amazing idea to get rewarded for curating content. I don't know why everyone hasn't joined this. I think over time, it has a ton of potential.
That's a really cool perspective that I never thought of too - $5 to me isn't a lot, but that can really help someone in another country. I love that. <3 Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to delving into this community more.

You're really active on Facebook and onboarding new members. It's always beautiful to share in someone's experience.

I hope you enjoyed your day as much as I enjoyed reading your diary. Thank you very much for posting.

❤️❤️❤️❤️
Becky.

Your mind is great
and your thinking is great. I like that.

Hi Christopher and Emma! Here is your 80% vote because you got SECOND in Music For Steem week 4! See you in week 5!

Thank you for taking part in The Diary Game on Steem.

Great post on Facebook - what sort of response did you get?

The Steemit Team

It got several likes. Some of my friends messaged me about it, but nothing too substantial. I do intend to try to advertise Steem like that to the people I know though because I think it is a remarkable aspect of Steem that will appeal to many people I know.
