@ridwant pointed out that parents must interfere in the day to day decisions of their children, an idea children will kick against, and the new way of doing things today will support the kids rebellion in the name of freedom.
Globalisation has made it worst, the African kid now wants the type of freedom they see in television shows that portrayed western culture.
In the African culture I was raised in, you don't have the right to make any life-altering decision until you are old enough to manage its consequences.
Parents today are more intrested in providing the kids with money, buy all they need and want and so the parent have to work longer hours and far away. Even the mother has to work too because emphasis is on the wealth, leaving the kids without any perental guidance.
The world we live in has double standards, and anything is allowed. How can parents correct their children in a world that advocates acceptance? Saying that People have to be accepted the way they are... The whole environment is not safe for kids...
