Travel Diaries - #Throwbacks - The drive from Naples to Sorrento

in #travel2 months ago

This was while me and my family were on the NCL Mediterranean Cruise, it was a day in Naples. We had around 10 hours at disposal. We did move around Naples but there was not much to see. There was a Cathedral which we visited, and went around the local streets. Then our guide proposed us that since we had some good time at hand, we should think of visiting Sorrento, which was around 1.15 hr drive one way, so 2.30 hrs of total drive. First I was not very keen and hesitant, but then he showed us some pictures of Sorrento and I was tempted. It was a good decision we made. While Sorrento itself is a very pretty little lime and lemony town, the drive was magnificent. The views on the way were simply breathtaking.

If I would have had more days I would have loved to spend it in Sorrento, the vibe here was inviting and very friendly. We had a good time but at the back of the mind, I was all the time worried about getting back to our cruise on time, because this was far, and god forbid if anything would happen on the road, like a traffic jam or something then it would be a disaster. It was surely a chance that we were taking. It all went very well and we were just in time again back for our Cruise departure.

The journey from Naples to Sorrento was the major attraction of this trip.

We took many halts on the way to click pictures and that made our journey time all the more long.

In the return we did have to rush because we did not have much of time at hand, and we made it back to our cruise.

It's a beautiful memory of this holiday. Everything was nice about this day, the place, people, drive, scenery, food, all of it was perfect.

@nainaztengra, what a delightful escape to Sorrento! Your photos are absolutely stunning – those coastal views are the kind you frame and dream about. It's fantastic you took the chance on that detour; it clearly paid off! I love how you captured the vibrant atmosphere of Sorrento, especially the market scene. The anxiety of making it back to the cruise on time is definitely relatable, but it sounds like the experience was worth the nail-biting moments. Thanks for sharing this beautiful Mediterranean memory; it's inspiring me to add Sorrento to my travel list! Did you try any of the local limoncello while you were there? 🍋
