Kwan Phayao, one of the wonderful largest freshwater lakes in Thailand
Kwan Phayao is situated in Phayao province, in the North of Thailand. It’s the 1st largest freshwater lake in the northern part and the 4th largest freshwater lake in Thailand.
The surrounding scenery is beautiful; i.e. there are small and large mountains in the background of the lake.
There is a public park where people from both the province and other provinces come to relax; take a walk, enjoy the view, ride a bicycle, or jog.
There is a charming road beside the Kwan Phayao decorated with various kinds of gorgeous flowers.
Apart from the flower garden, the lake also has other beautiful decorations.
The most popular highlight is the two awesome Naga statues facing each other and the golden chedi staying in the middle of the water.
On the opposite side of Kwan Phayao, there is a monument of Pho Khun Ngam Mueang who was the great king of this province in the past.
Will show you more photos of Kwan Phayao in my next post.
P.s. I used to post about Kwan Phayao a very long time ago, these photos are from a new trip.
It is impressive how the image of the dragon is present in the heritage of probably all the peoples of the world, in one form or another, under one name or another, in religion or in mythology. Bulgaria also has this mythical figure, it is woven into so many sad tales, there is still a mountain village where a lonely and uninhabited house stands, called "the house of the dragon" because of a local legend. One feels really very special there...
Anyway, Kwan Phayao is truly a divine place, so much natural beauty and such serenity emanates from the waters of this gorgeous lake 😊
I'm so sorry for my late reply. I'm very happy for your appreciation for the place. It's interesting to know that there is "the house of the dragon" in Bulgaria, too. Thanks so much for sharing this with me. ;)
