Wat Phra That Lampang Luang, in Lampang province, in the North of Thailand
Although Lampang is just a small province which is located in the North of Thailand, it’s fascinating with Lanna culture, arts, the ways of local people’s life, temples, horse carriages, rooster brand ceramic bowls, etc.
One of the famous tourist attractions that should definitely not be missed when visiting Lampang is "Wat Phra That Lampang Luang".
It’s a beautiful ancient temple and it’s considered one of the most complete wooden temples in Thailand.
Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is considered to be ancient Lanna architectural art that is pretty beautiful. The main wall with old bricks stretched along the temple is attractive.
Before entering the temple, you will see a long staircase with awesome Naga’s heads.
When you walk up at the top of the Naga stairs, you will see the arched gate with the upper part with a stucco pattern which looks like a castle.
There are sculptures of Nagas and swans on various levels all the way to the top, looking very beautiful.
When entering the gate, Phra Wihan Luang is located in front of you.
It’s a large open-air wooden building which is beautiful with many ancient arts, architecture, old mural paintings about Buddhist stories, etc.
The chedi (pagoda) of Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is in the shape of an inverted bell which is in Lanna style.
After finishing worshiping the Buddha statues, you can also ride a horse-drawn carriage to travel around the city of Lampang as well.
This is considered one of the important signatures of Lampang…..
P.s. I used to present photos of Wat Phra That Lampang Luang 6 years ago, but the photos in this post are from a recent trip.
Lovely tour
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you like it.
