List the steamed dishes made in your region. Which one is your favorite and why?
There are many delicious steamed dishes in different regions of Bangladesh. They are generally healthy, as they do not use oil and retain the natural flavor of the food. Below is a list of some popular steamed dishes in our region.
- Bhapa Pitha - A very popular winter pitha made with rice powder, coconut and jaggery.
- Chitoi Pitha - A soft pitha made with rice powder, usually eaten with stuffing or jaggery.
- Dudh Chitoi - Chitoi pitha soaked in milk and jaggery syrup and served.
- Bhapa Sandesh - A steamed sweet made with chickpeas and sugar.
- Mera Pitha – Winter pitha made with rice flour, usually eaten with filling.

My favorite dish is Bhapa Pitha. This is my favorite because
- It is a traditional winter pitha that is available all over Bangladesh and is a popular steamed dish.
- Its taste is very sweet and fragrant with a mixture of rice powder, coconut and jaggery.
- It is a healthy and light food as it is cooked in steam.
- The pleasure of eating hot steamed pitha on a winter morning is different and it reminds me of my childhood.
Make the Raagi Puttu(Steamed Finger Millet Cake) that is shared in the course or make it as per your style, with a detailed step-by-step procedure along with images
In our Bangladesh, steamed food is very common and healthy. I tried to make a dish inspired by Raagi Puttu, but I made it in my own style by using rice flour instead of raagi flour and almonds and cashew nuts instead of coconut focusing on the ingredients availability in our region. This gives the dish a slightly different taste while maintaining the texture of the traditional steamed food.

Then I put the roasted ricr flour in a bowl, add a pinch amount of salt. After that I water little by little and knead it well with my palms. I was concern while mixing, because the flour should not be so softy or too hard. it should form a ball when pressed by hand.
Step-III

Now I have finely chopped the almonds that I soaked for several hours and also chopped the cashews which I have mixed well in the mixer. I soaked the almonds last night so that they become soft and have a coconut-like flavor. It was soaked for about 8 hours.
