go has i dunno how many board pieces, it has one piece per player (type of) and a very limited set, there is no difference in damage when you make a move depending on what piece type you have, nor does the tile of the board you stand on change the outcome or at least modifies it, tiles dont get destroyed in several turns and dont have time to heal if they dont get attacked in between

the board is ALWAY the same, in chess thats 8by8 if i remember correctly although there you have differemnt movement patterns, you still get one-hit one-kill and

random events : a volcano erupts and destroys your unit or city , an earthquake, tidal waves, random maps wherer tiles can be land, water, mountaineous impassable or other

i always thought the possible combinations you get across all that , even without random must be way bigger than Go or chess
