Clearing out my demo backlog : Wild

like RBBS a demozoo id in the 3000s, considering we are close to the 150000 these guys are still pretty early in the game.

considering fairlight is in the early 300 and Triad in the 800s ... Then again ofcourse i doubt demozoo was around in 1986 and today still pouet takes most of the traffic and buzz there.

Then ofcourse you got csdb (just google im too lazy to link) and zxart and many others , aminet and atarimania and whatnot for specific cults (its close to a cult sometimes but its a bit less heavy than it used to be , i doubt you wanted to be caught with a c64 and an Atari ST in the same room in the 90s or risk being burned at the stake and banished from the land forever)

The language has gotten a bit meek too , greeting are alphabetical so no one feels like someone else gets preference ... if you look at early cracktros (mostly, bc the same actually came up AFTER that) you can read by the scrolltext competition was viewed in a different light ...

Monosyllabic words that are only killed by Jesus in America weren't uncommon and frankly my dear

i never seen anyone die from it ...

THAT SAID ... o, the microwave has granted me my honeyed milk .. (out of nesquik and coco ... i havent had butter on my bread for 3 weeks now, its "no longer a necessity")

THAT SAID ... these people still have some disposable income ofcourse, tickets for revision aint free and taking trains and planes from portugal and finland and italy to germany sure aint free either, staying there for a few days aint free, loading your gear aint free and

buying stuff aint free, retro computers take a really fair ( who came up with that word in that meaning) price today

Beer huh ? i havent had beer in ... months ... and i ordered some sake before the grand news that santa brings "no income" for christmas" and that was the last of it

THAT SAID ...

Mostly old men doing shiney things and reminiscing about better days - while the A.I. goes BUT I CAN PASS THE FIRST CHALLENGE AT GOOGLE ...

it can probably not write 78 rastersplits on a c64 or

do something wild on a pico or a zero

Most of these people in the winning section are quite tek savvy, some might even denominate them as hackers but

obviouslyl not Mitnick-level

hobbyists who in a lot of cases have some boring dayjob thats attached to a keyboard , lots who retire these days and get more time and start getting back on the scene starting with that demo we never finished back then

and i bet a shitload that got fucked in the ass by a CEO and his A.I. ...

i wonder about the day when the mighty investors realize "THE" a.i. can do all that firing just fine without a CEO and that CEO really costs a lot for what its worth

THAT SAID

this one on the pico (or was it a zero) is a fine example of "wild" demos , there's a few of those lying around here attached to stuff

from when money could be spent on stuff, i see one here in a box while typing

image.png

mmm, but thats not the one the guy in the demo is using ...

These people really know their things in and out, right

for instance

Signal Carnival by Reflex

brings another hit to the table . Always looking for "stuff that hasnt been done" some guys come up with the craziest shit.

Why we dont list the revision winner , as we have seen 25000 oscilloscope demos by now , its a good one but hardly the most fresh wild produce this year imo .. i bet it went down well in a hall full of drunk 50 years old guys on pills (ofcourse not, there are no drugs on the scene, officer) because of the dubstep and the epilleptic lightshow ... WE certainly couldnt do it without research BUT well, stuff like this is more impressive and novel if you like
to us it is

switching the audio and video cable and writing a piece of software the simulates raster bars and stuff up to plasma-like effects while the video does audio ?

Quiss seems to only come outside if he has found something hackable , there's a nice one before

where they use the drive heads of a 1541 floppy to create audio for a demo

and here, on home-territory

which is actually not wild but something that wasnt done on a c64 before, however you'd have to be an inside scener or democoder to appreciate what actually is so badass about it i bet , borders aint really a thing anymore ( but we see them rising again everywhere hah hah hah ... maybe they'll be trendy again soon) and rotating a cube in the corner might be a bit harder than you think on a c64 ...

however i thin the thing here is that he found a way to do this in LESS opcodes (leaving more cycles for something else or just having more cube because of the extra cycles you can spend)

just like LFT has the nine sprite and fairlight with the 76 rastersplits

https://demozoo.org/productions/327323/

42 years later pushing the limit of their childhood friend

something the mad character vetting you at google cant hack

...

drifting off-topic huh ?

well what do you want for 30 cents ??

Wild demos often move close to the domain of Mitnick (may he forever hack in peace)

electronics

...

i think my fav must be

Pharmageddon by the paramedics

https://demozoo.org/productions/314224/

and maybe

Cruisin 5 by Abyss

https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=94113

Yea, even family guy from Germany takes part !

so yea, i dont they're sponsored to do that, own-wallet , and mostly just for bragging rights and a lot of train and ticket fares on top

....

"WILD"

eeh, i probably have stuff to do

so ...

who's got the coolest dads ???
