Could we actually get a Falcon 030 core ?

"what people do instead of knitting on a sunday afternoon"

This guy wrote a motorola FPU (floating point unit - essentially its a math coprocessor that would greatly enhance stuff that requires heavy calculations in realtime - like i guess Euclid and other greeks might need at times - floating point math is not really most retro machines have handy and in lots of cases i bet games (and demos for that matter) will use lookup tables, even for non floating point division or multiplication if its limited scope you might get a lot faster running code if you do)

To us, the one thing missing from the mister fpga (other than a reworked atari ST(e) thats accurate and has for instance the STe's jagpad ports on it instead of the plain port of the original mint (which is fine to run all retro games but not really a representation of the machines - missing ports are one thing there)

IS AN ATARI FALCON 030 CORE AND

if they can do that, maybe they can have the sharp 030 too, the limited edition using the 68030 instead of the standard 68000 motorola which , for a machine already dubbed "the god computer" in its era (which for some reason never made it out of Japan ... like most good stuff did back then, the revolution started around dark souls and tekken 7 i think when they realized you dont actually lose money by publishing stuff on pc)

so ... that leaves someone writing up the 68030 .. the AGA core already uses the 68020

question is can the 68030 FIT on the FPGA board and then on top of that have the FPU next to it (and maybe some videl as hot sauce)

...

miracles seem to have been performed before on that little box, who knows ...

Sort:

yeah that's one of my all time favorites .. must be a few hundred different versions i know it so well i probably could write another version of them myself then use the ai to make demos if that makes any sense geez gotta stop smoking
