RE: My son's first car... Seriously, where DOES the time go?! ♥
Ah! I am glad this moment is still so far away for us but I am sure it will still creep up faster than I suspect.
My husband says the same thing about not buying our kids a car. I am interested to see if he sticks to his resolve.
My parents made me take my driver's training in a standard. Their reasoning was that if ever there was an emergency and the only car available was a standard, I wouldn't be stuck. Sound logic and it came in handy more than once. I can't say I'm the smoothest shifter but I can get myself from point A to point B.
I hope you share the progress! -Aimee
Haha! I took my test in a standard as well! ALMOST failed when I had to stop and parallel park ON AN INCLINE, and the truck coasted back and almost knocked down one of the cones. It had a pole sticking up and the pole was caught in my mirror, haha! I stopped and looked at the teacher, at a loss of what to do, since if I knocked down a cone it was an automatic fail. He said, go ahead and try. Boy, I revved that thing so it wouldnt go back any further and by some miracle, made it up the hill, haha!
Ha ha ha! That's sheer will! I actually took my test in an automatic and my lessons in a standard. I remember my last lesson felt exhausting. I was trying to parallel park and I kept stalling. The harder I tried, the more I stalled. My instructor looked at me and said, "you're taking your test in an automatic right? Because otherwise you're going to fail." It was an off day and hearing that was so discouraging. -Aimee
Oh wow, haha, well at least he was honest. Harsh, but honest. At least you can look back and laugh, right? ;)
Oh yeah. I can definitely laugh about it now. It was harsh but honest. And in the real world, if you stall while parallel parking you just start your car and try again, right? I even have a different outlook on exams now too. -Aimee
Absolutely! :D
