More movements in the Top 20 this week.
One new entry, and rearrangements amongst the first five.
The Steem Witness scene is definitely becoming more lively.
The Current Top 20 Witnesses
@justyy has held on to the top spot, but with the incoming votes from @rme and new whale @hungry-griffin, there have been movements in the rankings below him.
@symbionts has moved up one place to #2 and @dev.supporters has climbed 3 spots to third position.
New witness @bangla.witness, backed by @rme, @hungry-griffin and @amarbanglablog, has picked up a @upvu.proxy mega vote to jump over 30 places to enter the top 20 at #18.
@alexmove.witness is still propping up the top 20 at #21.

There are a further 30 or so active backup witnesses mainly in the #21 - #50+ slots.
All top 50+ witnesses are running the current 0.23.1 version.
Many of the witnesses from #55 and below are 'former' witnesses that are running old witness versions (0.23.0 or 0.22.1) and have now moved to another blockchain.

No new witnesses have been detected this week, although @yasu from Japan is in the process of setting up a witness following the recent guidance posts of @rexthetech and @blockseater...
@michelangelo3 has been successfully experimenting with setting up a witness server, although he has not yet pressed the button to go full witness...

Korean Witness Meetup
A number of Korean witnesses had an offline meeting recently to discuss current Steem issues.
Among the main topics was the forthcoming Steem Development Incentive Program which has a budget of $350,000 to support development on Steem, and how to attract developers from outside Steem.
The witnesses present also agreed to set up their own independent self-development fund.
The meeting was attended by @oldstone (@steem-agora witness #13), @cjsdns & @ayogom (@rnt1 witness #9), @kakakk (@successgr.with witness #25), @glory7 & @donekim (@dev.supporters witness #3), @happyberrysboy (@upvu.witness #11) and @kopasi as host.
Top witness @justyy (#1) continues to make regular posts on various technical topics...
@dev.supporters (#3) has submitted their application to become one of the five witnesses that will form the Working Group that will manage and oversee the Steem Development Incentive Program.
The @dev.supporters witness is made up of @donekim (Korean communication), @glory7 (global communication), and @wonsama (technical support)...
@steemchiller (#4) continues to maintain the top app on the blockchain in the form of Steemworld.org.
@steem.history (#5) puts out a number of very useful daily posts covering witness listings, Steem Power rankings and the STEEM system config.
@maiyude (#8) has posted an update on the development of the Steem.vip wallet...
@upvu.witness (#11) publishes a daily list of which witnesses it is supporting with the massive @upvu.proxy vote (30M SP)...
@upvu has made a number of posts giving more information about how it selects the witnesses it supports...
@etainclub (#14) continues to work on the development of his AVLE app which is now in public beta...
@italygame (#15) puts out regular weekly updates about their various activities, including maintaining the Steem Fanbase auto-voting service...
@xpilar (#16) is running a contest for people to make promotional videos about Steem...
@boylikegirl.wit (#17) has posted an update about the development of their Boylikegirl Club app.
One added feature of the app is that it links with the likeID system for extra LIKE coin rewards...
@bangla.witness (#18) has published its roadmap for progressing its witness and the Amar Bangla Blog community....

The world of Steem witnesses is definitely becoming more lively, more active and more promising.
There is now an air of expectation of what comes next.
The prospect of the Steem Development Incentive Program's $350,000 for new development work, and the increasing activity among the witnesses, has the potential to bring on a new phase of growth on the platform.
I am very much looking forward to seeing what develops...
