One of many stupid undertakings.

When someone is busy with something, but from the outside it seems unproductive, it doesn't lead to any specific, creative result, they say the undertaking is stupid.

Well, yes, it's not the person who's being called stupid, but the fact that they're doing it, supposedly out of cultural considerations and some kind of respect (lol), but the subtext is generally clear.

I guess, when I was doing something not very mental, I would periodically pick up a ballpoint pen and draw something.

You know, when I was bored during the Chzvokovology class, I wouldn't call it stupid, because I enjoyed drawing, but tinkering with grammar was very boring.

So, at least for forty-five minutes, while the class was going on, I could travel in my fantasies and depict these journeys on paper.

You know, in theory, building yourself a sailboat is also stupid, especially if you live in a city where the sea is several hundred kilometers away, and the river that crosses the city is not navigable at all.

But the world would probably be extremely boring without little stupidities.
