Indirect Care Is Still Nursing
Daybook December 17
Nurse educators do not stop being nurses when they leave the bedside.
They expand the reach of care by supporting those who provide direct patient care.
You don’t stop being a nurse when your care reaches patients through others.
I’m still a nurse.
Now, my care reaches patients
through the nurses I teach and support.
When I see my peers caring with confidence and compassion,
I know my work matters.
One Line for Nurses and Nurse Educators:
You don’t stop being a nurse
when you stop touching patients.
You become a nurse for many more patients.
