SEC-S30W1: Anecdotes that teach: (A Horrible Accident)

If I had known, I would have stayed by again and cleared my head before embarking on the journey that turned out to be a horrible one.

The last two years around 23rd June 2024 was the first time in my life that I experienced a very brutal accident that led to the death of an Okada rider instantly at the spot, while his passenger was rushed to the hospital whose state of health I was unable to ascertain.

The accident happened along the Abuja-Akwanga road on my way back to Akwanga after a holiday visit to the Federal Capital Territory. At the beginning of the journey right from my hotel room I started contemplating my journey which I thought of staying back for one more day, but I couldn't because of the money I would spend if I stayed one more day.

After making a final decision that I must be in Akwanga town on the same day, I parked my luggage and booked a ride to the motor park. Upon reaching the motor, the same feeling that I had before leaving my hotel room, I had it there stronger at the motor park.

At that particular moment, I started feeling worried and decided to sit down for a while and observe what my mind was telling me. My thoughts and everything changed which I even lost the appetite to eat. It didn't just stop there, I got a motor to Akwanga and paid for a seat, but in the end, my money was refunded to me because the driver got more than enough passengers to carry.

I still sat down where I was trying to observe myself, and boom another vehicle arrived. There was a bit delay in the vehicle before it moved from the motor park. When the driver started the vehicle he first drove to a fuel station and bought fuel.

While at the fuel station, some passengers were buying, bread, oranges, galla, and other edible things, and I was alone meditating about my feelings until we hit the road, when I started pressing my phone.

After about 10 minutes' drive away from the fuel station, the next thing that I heard was "Jesus" Oh "lord please". Everyone became shocked from the accident that happened which was caused by the vehicle's shedding that I was in.

The vehicle was on highspeed while the Okada rider was about to cross the road, before he was knocked down. My vehicle also, came in and joined the accident which added to crushing the Okada rider. The tyres of the vehicle that I was driving burst and were damaged which is also the same thing that happened to the vehicle that caused the accident.

Everyone, ran out of the vehicle for fear of being exploded and for people not to come and attack us. The people who came got so angry looking for the two drivers, but couldn't find them because they had already abandoned their vehicles and run to the nearest police station.

Road safety officers arrived and took the accident victims including the Okada rider thy got demised away. I became confused about what to do, I was stranded having no extra cash with me that could transport me to Akwanga. I spent almost an hour plus at the spot begging a vehicle to take me to akwanga which I saw a vehicle that took me to Akwanga and accepted a transfer.

Moral Lessons: Always listen to your mind, or thoughts which had it been I listened and acted according to what my mind was telling I would not have experienced such a horrible accident.

Hi, @josepha

It's a pleasure to see that you've accepted my challenge, welcome! Here is your evaluation:

Your story is really good. Everything that happened to you during the day seemed to indicate that you should stay another day, that is, if you believe in hunches and premonitions, which not everyone does. Otherwise, look, even though you felt something might happen, you still left.

The moral of the story is based more on your own personal beliefs; it's not invalid, but something more general would have been more engaging. Even so, the accident photos are excellent and lend credibility to your story. Good work.

Road accidents are always traumatic.

And that applies to everyone who witnesses them. I remember once I was coming back from a trip and I saw a woman get hit by a car. with her baby in her arms. When the car hit her, the baby was thrown into the air until she fell to the pavement.

The mother also fell some distance from where she was hit, and her shoes flew off too. It all happened so fast that I couldn't understand why it had happened. We saw the whole scene until the rescuers arrived and took the woman and the baby away.

The other scene that shocked me was seeing the driver of the car that hit the woman. He was with his family in the car. After the impact, they got out of the car and he hugged his wife and son. The three of them were crying, trembling, as they embraced. I've never been able to forget that.

I imagine the impression of that accident still stays with you.

It was shocking to read your story and see the photos too.👍🏽🍀🍀🍀

Reckless driving is the major cause of accident and not just bad road. It was a terrible accident indeed. Thanks for your support.

Accident can be terrible in a bad road and it is something one cannot tell, but it like you were trying to be told about the danger ahead before leaving your hotel room. Wishing you good luck.
