This week's contest consists of sharing and commenting on a single picture of a bird with a text of at least 70 words. It can be your country's national bird. Share and comment on your image.
I brought up this topic because I was very impressed by a bird called the “gallito lagunero or swamp rooster.” In other areas, it is known as the Jacana. It is a bird that can even be heard chirping in the lyrics of songs from my plains.
But what I want to talk about today is how interesting the male bird is in its behavior toward the female. It grows and develops in the lagoons. It is responsible for caring for the female's eggs. The female lays her eggs in her nest or in another nest; it doesn't matter to her. What matters is that when she finishes laying, it is the male who incubates all the eggs, even if they are not his.
After laying her eggs, the female leaves in search of other males, of which there may be up to four or five in her group.
It is interesting to learn how each species has its own peculiar customs, which we are often unaware of.
It is a small bird with long legs and ungainly toes that walks on the plants in the lagoons.
Unfortunately I don't have images of these beautiful lagoon birds, so to compensate I bring you an image of the only birds I keep here at home, they are the quails.

What cute little parrots. Do they also talk? I have seen many of these birds being pets. When I was a teenager my mother had a partner. Then one of them died and many years later the other died. It is certainly sad to take away their freedom and then not take care of them. My mother loved them and taught them to speak.
These are not the ones that talk; the ones that repeat words and phrases are what are called real parrots, and they have yellow on the top of their heads.
I had one of those, and also the ones called corraleros, which are the ones that look after livestock. I raised them, but when they grew up, I set them free.

I don't have a picture of a maleo bird so I just replaced it with a turtle dove that fell from the nest while learning to fly.

There are plenty of birds that are kicked out of the nest by their parents. They then learn to fly from the ground up. Then you have stupid people who think that's sad and put the young bird back in the nest or take it with them, while the parent is simply feeding it on the ground.
You're right, it's survival that leads these birds to act this way with their chicks; in fact, these little ones learn to fly and gain confidence, you could say they become somewhat more independent.

One of my relatives had pigeons at his house and over time there were too many. What she did was sell some of them at a low cost, but the problem persisted. She decided to give away the pigeons she had, along with the cages , She got tired of taking care of them

I saw this little bird perched on a wire, I took the photo I was motivated to take the photograph because of its color; it was the first time I had seen one like it. In fact, it's normal to see different birds on wires; some stay there, others come down to eat since some people feed them.
The birds are fed by people willing to do so. Here in Colombia, there's a lot of solidarity with animals , there are always people willing to feed stray animals, like dogs and cats. In fact, some people take them to different shelters where they are fed, cared for, and treated if they are sick, and then other people can adopt them. Campaigns are held, and people come to choose their pet.

Very nice color. I've seen people feed the birds, but the problem is they don't clean up after them, hahaha , to be honest, these people don't think about the fact that the birds leave droppings and need to be cleaned up. Hereby my birds. They are on a vase. It's the kind of vase you cannot pour water in (there's a label underneath informing it leaks) which makes it useless if you ask me. It looks nice but I wouldn't call it art simply because there are too many of them and the copies don't look as if the personal toch been added to it. It lacks something which you won't notice at first glance.

Those vases are sold by Intratuin a garden & home centre, so not Ikea. They are expensive and the quality is getting worse. If you look cliseky you see many vases have a printed wrap and that wrap is too short for the vase.

Guangzhou is a harbour and there's a direct fly from here it only takes a day to arrive (no problem I can sleep or draw or sleep LOL). It's nice to try some different (read: better) food but it's not that I have to eat 24/7 or after midnight. In reality I hardly eat or at most once a day a little bit (a snack is a meal to me as well).
I don't like the cold though but I do like to see the mountains and most of all the sea. I go look for each one of the provinces and places on the map. If you ask me there's a lot to see and experience which cannot be done during a vacation.

I think the platform is having problems, since yesterday it won't let me do normal activities without sending me an error message. I try to correct it and then send the message two or three times. Always pointing out that there is a shipping error.
The most common thing I have read about trees with these small flowers is pointing out that it is a cherry tree, it grows in Japan. I've seen it in several movies, I don't know if it's also in China or Korea.

Aren't there people making pie out of magpies? I already thought about what we call a "ekster".. With us it's not famous for bringing luck (time to move to China) but they say the bird steals everything that shines. Having one wouldn't be that bad.
