Europe experienced high electricity prices in 2022 and 2023, part 4 Installs solar panelssteemCreated with Sketch.

In Norway, we have a lot of hydropower that produces electricity, but we are connected by cables to several countries and then we Norwegians also have to pay the same electricity price that is sold on the electricity exchange.

Our house is from 1959 and the roof needs to be restored, which means that we need to replace the roof, cardboard and laths and more. With the expensive electricity prices, we chose to invest in solar panels at the same time that we have to restore the roof of the house

We have also chosen to change the color of the house to black, but it is autumn and there is a lot of rain and it is damp in the evening. I probably won't have time to paint the whole house this year, I think I'll have to wait until spring.

Wow. That's a lot of power you're putting on your house.
How many watts will that be?

The Sollselle panel will produce 17.22 kwp per year, and we have a consumption of 20 kwp per year. But in the winter, the production of electricity will be low compared to the summer's production. So it will be exciting to see how we come out with the electricity consumption in a year. But when I have surplus electricity, it will be sold on the electricity market. 😊

You have made a very good investment. In which your roof is also repaired. And electricity is also produced. Therefore the beauty of the house also increases. Every work in the house is done through electricity. Thanks for sharing. @xpilar

Yes, it will be exciting to see what I can save on the electricity bills

Very beautiful work on your house! Keep it up! Also, beautiful architecture! I love Norway and its people! I had great personal life experiences with Norwegians: you are a great people! All the best and keep up the good work here on Seemit! Plenty of success! Beste hilsener fra Romania! P.S.: Jeg kan også snakke norsk. 🙂

Thanks

Looks good but you have a different solar panel mounting system than I do.

So, then your house will also be on grid electric as well? If so, there are electric lines heaters to melt the snow and ice on the roof that plug in.

yes, it will be online as well

We were offered several types of solar panels and the one we chose produces more electricity than other types of panels. we were promised that they will produce 17.22 kwp and the number of panels is 42.

Hi @xpilar, that is a good decision to switch to solar, nowadays the prices are more affordable, we also were thinking about that, but currently we have to decide if we invest more in our slowly progressing work inside of the house which seems to be more important, but solar panels are also not completely off the table.

It looks that you have done very good work already, hope you manage to finish before it becomes cold. With the colour I wonder why have you decided to take black, is it so to get more warmth from sun?

By the way, I heard that the electricity prices in Norway very cheep, is that true?

The roof was finished today and the electrician connected the solar panels, now I'm just waiting for our electricity supplier to be ready because then we can also sell the excess electricity. And next week it will be connected to a router so that I can monitor the production of electricity.

Black gives more heat from the sun, but that's not why we chose black
We saw another house with the same horizontal wooden cladding as we have and it was freshly painted black and it looked great.

The price of electricity in Norway is very reasonable now because the water pools are full. But prices will soon rise again when Norway sells a lot of electricity abroad.

Thank you, friend!
