“Now I Get It.”
Daybook February
For nurse educators, the clearest measure of success is the moment a learner finally understands. That moment sustains teaching more than any evaluation.

There are many reasons educators keep teaching—responsibility, expertise, commitment.
But often, what truly brings us back is much simpler.
A nurse looks up and says, “Thanks. Now I get it.”
That moment cannot be rushed or forced.
It comes after confusion, patience, and careful explanation.
When it arrives, it shows on the face.
The concept that once felt distant suddenly makes sense.
This is not a small reward.
It is the strongest affirmation a nurse educator can receive—because it means learning has truly happened.
