How to Get to Bikas Park in Budapest (Without Accidentally Ending Up in Romania)
So, you’ve read about Bikas Park in Budapest, watched people doing impressive pull-ups and workouts in the park, and now you’re suddenly convinced that this is the week your new fitness life begins.
First of all: respect.
Second of all: how do you actually get there?
Before we continue, here is the video that probably convinced you that your life would improve dramatically if you just started exercising in Bikas Park:
The good news? Bikas Park is one of the easiest parks to reach in Budapest. You do not need hiking boots, survival training, or a Hungarian grandmother guiding you through hidden alleyways.
Option 1: Metro Line 4 – The Easy Mode
The absolute easiest way to reach Bikas Park is using Metro Line 4 (M4).
This metro line is modern, fast, clean, and honestly feels more futuristic than many airports.
You can jump on Metro 4 from several central locations including:
- Kálvin tér
- Fővám tér
- Keleti Pályaudvar
- Gellért tér
Simply take the metro in the direction of Kelenföld Vasútállomás, and get off at the station called:
Bikás park
Yes. The metro station is literally named after the park. Budapest is being unusually cooperative here.
Once you leave the station, you are basically already inside the park. It is almost impossible to get lost unless you somehow exit the metro while staring intensely at your phone watching cat videos.
The trip from downtown Budapest usually takes:
- Around 10 minutes from Kálvin tér
- Around 15 minutes from Keleti railway station
That’s less time than many people spend deciding whether they actually feel motivated enough to exercise.
Option 2: Bus Line 7 – The Legendary Budapest Bus Experience
If you prefer buses, or you simply want to see more of the city while traveling, then bus line 7 is another excellent option.
This is one of the most famous bus lines in Budapest. It basically cuts through the city like a caffeinated knife.
You can board it at places such as:
- Ferenciek tere
- Astoria
- Blaha Lujza tér
Travel toward the western/southern side of Budapest and get off near Bikás Park.
The nice thing about bus 7 is that you get to see actual Budapest life while traveling. Elderly people arguing. Students half asleep. Someone carrying three watermelons for mysterious reasons. It’s culture.
The downside?
Traffic.
Sometimes bus 7 moves quickly. Sometimes it moves with the emotional energy of a tired turtle.
Still, if you are not in a hurry, it is a comfortable and scenic way to travel.
Arriving by Car? No Problem.
Maybe you are the type of person who wants to arrive at the park with a yoga mat, protein shake, five resistance bands, and enough equipment to start your own outdoor gym business.
Good news: Bikas Park has a large parking lot nearby.
The current parking fee is approximately:
- 300 HUF per hour
Compared to parking prices in many Western European capitals, this almost feels like a historical museum price from 2004.
The parking area is convenient, spacious, and makes it easy to access the park directly.
Final Thoughts
Bikas Park is one of those places that surprises people visiting Budapest.
You arrive expecting “just another park,” and suddenly you discover:
- running tracks
- outdoor fitness equipment
- relaxing green areas
- modern playgrounds
- locals exercising like they are preparing for the Olympics
And the best part?
Getting there is ridiculously easy.
Now the only remaining challenge is the difficult psychological step between “I should probably exercise more” and actually standing there doing push-ups in public.
