The May contest #2 by sduttaskitchen: Society requires Security!
Hello Steemians, it's time we move forward and take the bull by the horns. We require a society where we are free from danger and can access good-paying jobs based on our specialty, and to make the society for the benefit of all.

What is the definition of security according to your perspective? |
|---|
I am going to begin by discussing security from a personal perspective. I first see security as the act of being safe from danger, harm, fear, or threats that can harm an individual's life. In our day-to-day activities, personal security can be a means of safeguarding one's emotions, privacy, health, and property. Security in this aspect is about being able to live peacefully, take the right decisions, and stay focused on development without any fear of attack or loss. This is where I generalize security as staying safe and preventing danger.
We cannot talk about security without being realistic on the social perspective, if we just feel that security is not all about keeping oneself safe, this is where we help the law enforcement agencies and ourselves by protecting people, communities, preventing crimes, and discrimination. This is the part where we build a secure society, especially by obeying the laws, cooperating with the government to maintain peace and stability, and respecting one another. Social security to me doesn't just end in keeping the laws and preventing crimes, it also deals with access to basic amenities like healthcare, education, and justice, this will help build a solid society of trust.
Security doesn't stop at these two perspectives, another aspect of security is national security, this kind of security is a kind that deals with the might to defend one's nation, citizens, economy, and territory from external and internal threats. It's the kind where citizens are shielded from war, cybercrime, terrorism, and economic collapse. This part of security deals with a mass population playing their parts. National security stays active with the help of strong leadership, disciplined security agencies, and effective laws.
In addition to prioritising technical security measures, it is essential for us also to address the aspect of social security. I welcome your insights on this matter. |

Social security is one of the least talked-about but important aspects of security because it is needed to protect people from hardship during hard times such as unemployment, old age, disability, and sickness. With social security, individuals can have financial support and basic welfare services which can improve citizens' standard of living. Social security can be a means of terminating poverty and inequality in society at the expense of aiding vulnerable people to meet their needs. If citizens know that they will receive support and protection, it will foster great stability, peace, and productivity in a country.
I actually feel that social security is not effective, to do so in making it effective the government should implement fair policies and make sure that it benefits needy individuals at the right time. There should be transparency, proper funding, and honest management for the system to scale smoothly. To make social security effective there should also be citizen education on their rights and how to access social security programs.
Moreover, social security also faces a lot of ups and downs in many societies. Mismanagement and corruption could prevent resources from reaching people who really need them. High unemployment, limited government funds, and population growth also create pressure on social security systems. In some cases, unawareness and complicated procedures make it hard for individuals to access benefits. These challenges can therefore prevent the effectiveness of social security.
To establish a civilised society, what are the key principles that should be implemented? |

In making sure that we establish a civilized society we have to ensure that there is an implementation of justice, equality, and respect for human rights. The government should also ensure that every citizen is treated fairly regardless of their background, gender, religion, or social status. For a civilized society, we also have to make sure that there is equality of all before the law, no one being above the law, and leaders ensuring that they govern with accountability and honesty. If there is justice, people can develop trust in the system, thereby reducing conflict, making peace easy to maintain.
I also think that a society cannot be civilized without quality education, moral values, and discipline. Education enables individuals to become knowledgeable, expand their thinking, and add meaningfully to their community. With the help of discipline, people can obey the laws, act responsibly in public, and respect authorities. Moral values like honesty, tolerance, and kindness strengthen relationships between citizens and help to make an environment where people can coexist peacefully despite their differences.
To help build a civilized society we are to ensure that security, cooperation, and economic development are adequately handled. The government and citizens are to work together to promote peace, provide opportunities for the youth, and protect lives and property. Security agencies are also to assist in safety, and at the same time, respect human dignity and the rule of law. The government should also put in place organized bodies that will make sure that good healthcare, employment opportunities, and social welfare initiatives are in place to ensure that their needs are met and to avoid crimes caused by frustration and poverty.
