CONTEST B&W - The Caspian Monster
Greetings, friends.
@sultan-aceh has announced the 17th week of the "CONTEST B&W PHOTOGRAPHY WEEK 18 And Get 3 Bingo Tickets as a Prize".
Today I decided to show the Caspian Monster in black and white.
What is the Caspian Monster? It's a cross between an airplane and a ship, flying at high speed over water, and it's called an "ekranoplan." It was designed and built in the USSR. The photo shows a later version, called the "Harrier". It was a missile carrier.
The demise of the USSR closed many such ambitious projects.

This is one of the remaining copies. Only 1 copy was really working.
The characteristics of this ship are simply impressive:
length — 73.8 m;
height — 19.2 m;
weight — 544 tons;
speed — 500 km / h;
range of navigation (flight) — 2000 km;

This Caspian Monster stands on the shore of the Caspian Sea near Derbent, an ancient city. That morning, when my friends and I were in this place, there was a thick fog, but periodically the sea breeze drove away the fog, and then it returned again.
This event was in December 2022.

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.
Even with "normal" airplanes, it's hard to imagine how such multi-ton machines can take to the air... This colossus is so ungainly and zero aerodynamics that it should really be doomed to just lie around. It did fly once, didn't it? I saw a documentary about it...
