The story about this day's old cake
So I had my birthday many days ago and I was hoping to not celebrate it in my dialysis center since the date will not fall on my dialysis schedule. I told myself that if my nurses will not greet me, then I will not buy them their celebratory food.
However they greeted me an "advanced" happy birthday and then "belated" happy birthday after my birthday had passed. I know what it really meant, it just means that they are actually waiting for me to give them their treats.
So after I came back home from my dialysis treatment I ordered them their food which is actually optional but due to my need for Camaraderie or getting along with my nurses so that I can ask them later for favors and all that, I have to do it plus they are expecting for me to buy them their food.
Also, usually during patient's birthdays, the hospital or clinics would buy the patients their birthday cakes and will sing to them their birthday songs. I would usually get annoyed by my nurses singing a birthday song to me because of the way the sing it like the street children singing Christmas carols here in my country near Christmas time in the hope that they can get some money from households, they would sing for the sake of it although they haven't done it this time around because I was not given my birthday cake.
After I returned for my next dialysis session I was asked by the caregiver if I did received my cake, I told her that I haven't and she said to me that she will tell it to the secretary which I think had the job of ordering it when patients had their birthdays.
After I returned for my next session the cake was there already at the clinic but I was not told that they bought a cake for me so after my dialysis treatment session I was not able to bring home my cake.
Two days later after I returned for my next dialysis treatment session the cake was still there and they handed it to me on my way back home. That is why this cake is already old the moment we had it. Well it is still good because I haven't experienced stomach issues, besides this type of cake as I lightly researched doesn't go bad quickly because it is just mostly bread and sweet icing which preserved it plus it is inside a box too.
At my age now I do not prefer to eat this type of food, I only had it because I do not want to waste food although I didn't bother to eat that almost pure sugar flower candies and leaves. In my family when we celebrate our birthdays, we do not but cakes because it is always out from my mother's budget. Most of the time my mother will greet me a sweet greeting and will cook some fried noodle for us to eat together with my siblings and that's it. So I am not used to even celebrating my birthday let alone being bought with a birthday cake.
