Hello my dear Steemians,

You might remember from my previous posts that we are on holiday now that is unfortunately, slowly coming to the end :(, but we still have exactly one week. When people are on holiday then it feels like the time is racing, no matter what we do to help with making it feel slower nothing helps.

While we are this time on our holiday in Germany, we planned to do a big work in garden, I mentioned before that we have bamboo plant that spread itself starting from our hedge that we planted about 20 years ago between our garden and our neighbour’s. Since last couple of years we noticed that Bamboo started to expand and grow to all the sides, but also spreading through lawn further from hedge towards both sides our lawn and also to neighbours. Understandably neighbours were worried and would like something to be done for that.

Actually we studied a lot of literature but also watched different videos about how to get rid of bamboo plant. Among all the most efficient was to dig out roots, they usually spread under the soil appr. 20 cm below surface. So either way we came to decision that we just grab our shovel and start our work digging out everything that is spread, from our sides.

On the first photo that is done today, you can see that almost a more than a half of lawn is removed and bamboo from that area is also radically and mechanically removed.

If you have no idea how bamboo plant is looking like here they are, over here they are the extension of the plant they are short but that is only the new once and under ground there is a long root looks like a cable.

Here are my working tools necessary one is pickaxe and also shovel.

This long straw colour cable is the root of Bamboo plant.

Here is the pile of the roots, I could not imagine how much it is and I am so happy that we managed that within our 3 weeks of working holiday.

Here on front of the photo you can see the pieces of lawn that was removed and it makes another pile. You can see our house in background with Scottish flag, that is up there when we are in Germany.

This is the result of our work in one spot.

So part of the job is done, the next to prevent another growth and spread of bamboo that is trapped in hedge. In order to stop bamboo it was advised to create bamboo barrier with special material that is strong and prevents the roots to penetrate the barrier. This way bamboo will be trapped only in hedge.

That means we need to create a grove appr. 70 cm depth. Today we started with it and hopefully within next 1-2 days we also finish that and the whole work is over for this holiday and we might have 5 days free of any work and just to relax.

After all hard work cup of coffee and fresh croissant is the best for relaxation.

El trabajo en el jardín es duro, pero trae hermosas y gratas recompensas.

Has hecho una maravillosa inversión de tu tiempo al darle dirección a las raíces del bambú.

Me encantó tu proyecto de jardinería.

Buen trabajo 👍😸

Thank you very much dear @lunasilver for your nice words. We were a bit sceptic at the begining as were not sure if the work will go as fast as it is, because we had very limited. But now we still have about 6 days left including tomorrow, time is tight but we still have a hope that will be able to finish what we planned.

Here is the pile of the roots, I could not imagine how much it is and I am so happy that we managed that within our 3 weeks of working holiday.

I can't find the right words to express my feelings when looking at this pile of roots.

Yes, it was very hard work of 4 weeks, now I am compeltely tired and fed up with digging for this year :)
