Magical Banyan Tree, Tangail

in Traveling Steem • 4 days ago

Assalamu Alaikum, friends; I hope you are all doing well. By the grace of Allah, I am doing well too. Today, I am going to review a "magical" banyan tree for you. It is located within the campus of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University in Tangail.

There is a shrine nearby, and the tree is steeped in history, often regarded as a magical tree; its leaves have even been used for certain medicinal purposes. To visit this place, you first need to come to Tangail and then proceed to Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University. The tree is situated inside the university grounds, right next to the gate of the shrine.

As you all know, the banyan tree is considered a haunted tree. People are afraid to go near it because, after dusk, spirits are said to inhabit it, and eerie activities are often observed. For this reason, the tree is sometimes used for magical rituals. The banyan tree you see here is located next to a shrine; it plays a significant role in the various activities that take place there.

You can see that the tree has been painted: the lower section is white, while the upper part features red markings that serve as a warning of danger. No one is allowed to touch the red-painted areas—except for practitioners of magic. Additionally, you can see an arrow symbol drawn at the base of the tree.

The tree you see here has a long history. In ancient times, it was a massive tree, but at some point, it was cut down—an act that resulted in significant damage. Beside this banyan tree stands a shrine where thousands of people gather to perform religious rituals. However, there are many stories about paranormal activity associated with this tree; it is said that anyone passing by alone at night would hear the sound of weeping coming from it.

I have heard that the roots of banyan trees are often used in occult practices and sorcery. If you look closely, the roots of this tree resemble human bones. In the third picture, you can see roots that look like snakes; indeed, people sometimes use certain roots for magical rituals.

I consider the practice of sorcery to be a truly despicable act and a crime; yet, some people resort to it driven solely by greed for personal gain. They often utilize parts of the banyan tree for this purpose—specifically its aerial roots or, at times, its old leaves.

If you look at the upper section of the tree, you might notice some old markings. The tree is densely covered with foliage, which blocks out the sunlight and provides us with cool shade. Occasionally, during religious festivals, the tree is adorned with lights, making it look truly magnificent.
