Act of kindness during festive times
Festivals are a time when friends and families come together. But it's just not about that, it's also a time which allows us to slow down, indirectly giving us a nudge to focus on other areas of life. These times give us opportunity to reflect on the world around us generously. That's for sure that the world does not start and end with us, there is so much more, but in our day to day life we get so caught up with our routines that we miss to look around. And these festive times does that work for us. It gives us to opportunity to come forward and be generous for those who are less fortunate, for those who do not have resources to enjoy these moments.
All festivals I believe carries a message of kindness and compassion towards each other, not being limited to just our family and friends. It would be nice if each one of us who are capable would reach out to those unfortunate ones. It's just not about money, but also about the time we can give. Spend a day at a old age home or a children's orphanage during these times and see how joyful they will be. Act of kindness does not need any festive time in particular to be done, it can be done at anytime. But when the whole world is celebrating, some one who is lonely out there, for them it would be a very miserable feeling and spending some time with them, giving them joy is the ultimate act of compassion.
My dad was not a very rich man, rather I can say he was from the lower middle class group, we had enough for ourself, but he always made me look around, and see things that were so easy to be dismissed. He would show me there were so many who did not have anything and it was our responsibility to take care of them as well. And I am grateful to him that he taught me to look around and not get self-absorbed in my own life and problems. He taught me, that may be I did not have enough but I still had something compared to someone who had absolutely nothing.
Life gives us many opportunities to do these things, it's about the intention then what matters. A little from everyone who can will make a big big difference in the way humanity shapes up for future generations. These values get passed on from one generation to another, it just do not happen by themselves.
