Having Medical Security

Last month I had several hospital visits, one problem was dealing with my back pain and the other was some menopausal issues. Both the problems needed series of test to be done and then treatment. In a wink almost it was an expense of 1 lakh rupees. Thankful my insurance covered it all. I was only thinking what if Insurance was not there then I had to pay such a big amount.

Some years back when I had absolutely no issues I felt that its not important to take medical insurance. It is better to pay once in a while treatment charges rather then paying insurance premium every year. But now I think different, I believe it's very important.

Medical cost has become so expensive that even a day visit to a Doctor can be heavy on pocket. Nowadays one consultation with a Doctor in a hospital, the fees start from 5000 Rs and more. This is just consultation, then the different types of test that have to be done which can sometimes leave a big hole in your pocket.

I only wonder how poor people can afford good medical service with these kind of prices.
