Planning before I Pause
All days are not the same. Some days I like to go slow. Some days I’m extra high on energy and want to knock out as many things as possible. That’s just how life flows. Generally, I like to keep my weekends free with nothing too heavy on the plate. If I’m going on a holiday, I want my head to be light. No mental tabs open. At the same time, I don’t want my work to suffer because I took time off.
Take blogging, for example. I blog every single day. It’s a commitment I’ve made to myself. But there are days when time just disappears — family stuff, travel, or plain exhaustion. On those days, I refuse to be stressed about missing a post. So, I prepare beforehand. I write a day in advance and schedule it. That way, the streak continues and my mind stays calm.
The same goes for work. Some days I put in extra effort and work very hard, not because there’s a deadline, but because I know I’ll want to go easy later. I’m borrowing time from today to pay for tomorrow’s peace. It’s my way of buying freedom in advance. If I’m prepared beforehand, I’m pretty much relaxed and I can manage my day well. There’s no last-minute panic, no guilt, no “I should be working” voice in my head.
Right now I am on a short break. So I have already prepared from my work perspective before I left for my holidays. Clearing the backlog, finishing what needs finishing. I don’t wish to go on a holiday with things running in my mind. I want to enjoy it fully. For me, a real break is when the head is as free as the calendar. And the only way to get there is to plan before I pause.
