Kind of Blue is the twenty-eighth studio album by American jazz musician, trumpeter, and composer Miles Davis. It was recorded between March 2 and April 22, 1959, at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York City. The album was released by Columbia Records on August 17, 1959. The original release has 5 tracks and its length is 45 minutes and 44 seconds. It was produced by Irving Townsend.

Kind of Blue was a huge success both commercially and critically. Kind of Blue is considered Miles Davis' masterpiece, the greatest jazz album ever recorded, and one of the greatest albums of all time. The album had a major impact on music, including Jazz, Rock and Classical genres. Kind of Blue is included in the 2005 book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Also, It was voted 14th in Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums 3rd Edition. The LP was one of fifty recordings selected by the Library of Congress for the inaugural year of the National Recording Registry in 2002. Additionally, in 2019, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the album with a five-time platinum certification, meaning shipments of at least five million copies in the United States. Kind of Blue is undoubtedly Miles Davis' greatest work and Miles Davis is undoubtedly one of the most successful jazz artists in history. A masterpiece, Kind of Blue is one of the most important, most influential and most popular albums in jazz. Kind of Blue was a revolution in itself when it was released.
