The Haldi ceremony

in #ceremony21 hours ago

I mentioned about the destination wedding 2 days back. There were multiple ceremonies that happened in the 2 days time, and the most interesting and entertaining of all of them was the Haldi ceremony. It is a ceremony where Turmeric (Haldi) is applied all over the bride and groom's body, of course they are wearing their full clothes, it's applied on hands, legs and face. The ceremony is done by family and friends. It is believed that this ceremony brings purification and good luck. Also it enhances the beauty of the couple on their special day, gives them protection from all evil eyes. This ceremony symbolizes blessings for a prosperous new life together. It's quite a fun doing this, lot of mess but then it's filled with joy and laughter. Dancing and Music is also a part of this ceremony.

Since Turmeric is of vibrant yellow color, the theme of this event was also Yellow. We all had to wear yellow color. It was not compulsory but it was suggested. I did not have anything bright yellow, so I wore a dress of cream color which had yellow borders on it.

Some pictures clicked during the ceremony. You can see how everyone is wearing yellow and we are all dancing to the beats of the music.

Ceremonies like these add extra spark to the event. We Indians have loads of them during the wedding time. So it's just not the wedding day celebrations, but the celebrations begin few days before the wedding and some or the other rituals are there where we come together and have a gala time.
