When children make their parents proud

Yesterday my friend invited me to her home for dinner. Her home is far from mine, so I had to leave early but there was crazy unexpected traffic on the way and ideally what takes 1 hour for me to reach took 2.5 hours to reach. It was very disappointing because I then did not get enough time to spend at her place. Anyways, when I reached her home, she was waiting below her building to greet me. I was surprised why she had to come down to greet me. She then told me, she has a surprise for me and wanted to take me to another place. I had no clue what was coming up. She took me to another building and I was still wondering what is it. We went up the building, at first she told me, she wants me to meet someone. So I thought possibly this was a surprise of meeting someone we both commonly know.

After reaching the new home, she told me, this is the surprise. I was still wondering what is it and who is it. Then she told me, it's the house that's the surprise. I was really surprised in this moment. Because all the while I was expecting a person and then suddenly came up the home. She told me that her daughter bought this home for them, and I could see the spark in her eyes. She was feeling so proud in that moment. Their first home is a small one 1 Bed room apartment and this is a 2 bedroom apartment and a lot of other amenities included in the society. Definitely a much better place then their first home. But more then everything it is the pride of what their daughter had done for them.

Her daughter is only 26 years old and she has started working since past 5 years only and at this age taking this decision is a very big thing. But her thought is that once she gets married possibly she may not be able to do things like these for her parents. She would want to but what if her husband does not allow her to, so she took this decision right now itself for them. Such a wonderful thought this is, and the joy her parents are feeling is beyond words. They took me around the home, showing every single thing. I could feel their excitement. This is what possibly every parent would desire, not a house but just this feeling of their children thinking and doing things for them.

When my son also does things for me, I feel so proud of myself and I keep flaunting. He is always concerned about my health and well-being and being in medical field he is always on my head monitoring my health. He says, I should live to 100 and that too very healthy. Though I would never want to live that age, but just his thought for me makes me feel proud and happy and also contended with my upbringing. When parents grow old, there is role reversal then children start acting like parents. But when children do not care for their parents it is the most hurtful feeling. When I see children leaving their parents in old age home, it hurts a lot. How can they abandon them when they need you the most.

It was a wonderful evening spent with them at their new home, our talks were not getting over. Finally mid night we wrapped up and thankfully the return journey was quick and in an hour's time I was back home.
