Benefits of Distance Education

These days education has simplified, there are so many ways in which one can take education. My Son wants to take up some further studies in his functional medicine stream. The problem is that he is already so occupied with his practice that he does not have enough time to go to the University and take classes. We have been finding out ways on how he takes up his education and still continues with his practice. Because stopping the practice will break the momentum for him and he is doing well with his practice so he does not want to break the flow, which is fair enough.

We have both been working on it and we found some good Universities offering distance learning options in the courses that he wants to do. I was surprised to see that Universities like Oxford and Harvard are also offering distance learning options with fees that are much reasonable then their class room attendance fees. This is really wonderful. This makes Harvard and Oxford more reachable to students who wish to study from there but due to financial constraints cannot. They are offering some courses that my son wants to take up, but lacks in some of the eligibility criteria. We are going to write to them with our case giving full background and let's see if it gets approved or not, because they have mentioned criteria for exceptions also which we fulfill.

I find distance learning very valuable. It is very helpful for those who want to work and study. Some people may be in dire need of money and they want to earn as well as they have aspirations to study also. This facility does help a lot. Many years back, I wanted to do my Masters in Human Resources, I enrolled for distance learning and got approved as well, but somewhere in-between I left, I could not cope up, and to be honest I did not have enough zeal to complete. Personally, for me I do not feel any loss, because soon after that in a couple of years I quit my full-time job.

For those who are serious about it, is very helpful. In my organization there were many who were doing it and they all completed successfully, while they managed their job also. When they completed, they had better opportunities at hand with better pay scales so it was surely helpful for them.
