Sinigang is one of the world's most popular dish has a meat or seafood main ingredient with vegetables like water spinach, Okra, radish, tomatoes, eggplant and flavored with with sour agent like Tamarind fruit or leaves, balimbi fruit, small ripe guava fruit variety, and other edible fruits or leaves which have a sour taste.

Rice is needed to have this savory viand.

It also includes a taro root which some people crush in the soup to make the Sinigang soup creamy for their liking or preference.

This is our local dish called "Sinigang" and there are many variations of this dish with the common taste of being sour and savory with a hint of spiciness because of the incorporation of long and mild chili pepper included as one of its important ingredients. It commonly use Tamarind fruit or leaves extract and some tomatoes depending on who is cooking it and the availability of the said ingredients but we have an available instant Sinigang pack which is a ready-made commercial souring ingredient complete with salt and other seasonings which often are used by people nowadays instead of using Tamarind fruit or leaves as the common souring ingredient. Fish sinigang sometimes makes use of small and ripe guava fruit which gives it a different but pleasant taste characteristic if you want to use small ripe guava if you prefer.

Other souring agents can be used for this dish or viand and even unripe watermelons are used if nothing souring ingredient is to be had. But other main meat dish are also calling for specific souring ingredient like for example, a shrimp Sinigang makes a better taste if Balimbi fruit is used or if a Chicken Sinigang will be made, the young leaves or shoots of Tamarind tree is much better or preferred to be used and it is called a different name as a dish and is called "Sinampalukan" with the toot word "Sampalok" which is the Tagalog language for Tamarind.

A good Sinigang dish uses a second rice washing water as its soup base which makes a rich-tasting soup and if you use the ready-made souring agent packs, it is important to use the recommended amount of the said soup base which you can read in the instructions of the commercial Tamarind sachet or pack in order to make the taste right. I also use a bit of fish sauce to season it to make the taste nice and savory with a bit of MSG to add some umami to the taste. The said dish also calls for some vegetable as its secondary ingredient and it includes some Okra, slices of eggplants, water spinach, and sliced radish. It is also called the aforementioned long chili pepper to give it some pleasurable heat flavor. This said dish is often paired with some rice because it is a viand and you will feel that you are missing a lot of it not eaten with rice. The soup is very refreshing which makes you eat more rice when you have it for your lunch or dinner.

Around the year of 2013 when I was blogging in the now long lost that we call then as a "social blogging" Bubblews (Bubble news) website, a post of mine regarding this particular dish went "Viral" over there which just meant that it garnered a lot of views, likes, and shares. It is because that maybe I was the first one that posted it over that memorable site which had been my gateway on why I was able to buy some BTC when the value of BTC was just 189 to 210 dollars a piece. Well anyway, I thought that the site was the ultimate good way for me in earning money and it was great while it lasted for the reason that I was earning about 16 dollars a day for just blogging there but with the caveat that I have to really "work 'til I drop" during those times because it needs a lot of commenting and visiting other people's post in order for others to visit your posts because every gesture of like, comment, and view is paid one with cent until you accumulate the threshold payment of around 25 and later $50 dollars per payment which means that you have to accumulate 50 dollars before being able to request for payment. But because I have a bad cause of insomnia from those years I used my waking hours using Bubblews which is why in those instances I used my health issue problem into a more fruitful manner.

Bubblews got infested with spam posts and spam comments which had made it unsustainable because the site only relies on ad revenues and only a few users coming from first world countries which generates a better ad revenue is using it and that had impacted on how less Bubblews generates money which it then pays for its users because again, every like, comment, and even views on you post article is paid one cent each. If only the ads can generate a sustainable amount of revenue then Bubblews could have been still alive to this day because it is very enjoyable to use as your post can only earn and not lose money unless you use an unattributed or not free image or photos in your post which will give your effort useless when you finally request a payment once you reach the $50 dollar threshold mark which takes a bit of long time to build-up considering that I was working on it almost every day from around 4:00 PM which is the usual time I would work to blog. My waking hour time from yesterdays all night work lasts until the morning light of the next day until I decide to force my self to sleep and then going at it again because I tend to work when it is cooler and more silent for the reason that I can get to have an idea on what post to make and having a silent surroundings helps me a lot compared to if when I am hearing voices and sounds. That had made me a night owl so to speak because I find it more better to work at night than to work during the day, plus it is comfortable for me to work at night because the days here in my country is more often gets hot and it is hard to work if I am drizzling over with sweat. But regardless, I truly enjoyed it with only my backbone which I cannot later endure the pain happened but it never deterred me in still using the site because I adapted in using my PC by blogging while laying down on my back until this very day but with blogging in blockchain social media.

Sinigang is one of my top 3 soups of all time.

  1. Cream of mushroom soup
  2. Tinolang manok (chicken moringa soup)
  3. Shrimp sinigang/pork sinigang (tamarind soup)
