We give more importance to things then people

It's very sad when someone tries to capitalize on your kindness. The kind of world we live right now is the one where human values are very less, where compassion and empathy are very low for others and there is more value of material things. For material gains people will not stop to hurt your sentiments and emotions. This does not happen only with stranger people; it also happens in families. Rather I see it happening more in families.

Strangers I understand we have no personal connection with them and hence they may value material things more then humans they do not know, but when someone of your known does that to you it's very hurtful. So many children of today I see have this problem, when they grow up, they start chasing material life and they give less importance to their parents. Last month I went to a old age home to spend some time with people there and my heart broke looking at them. Most of them had children but yet they were in that old age home, because children have no place for them at home. How very shameful of them to leave their parents in that condition. When I spoke to the care takers there they told me that most of them are well to do families, so it's not that they have financial problems to take care.

The world is getting more and more selfish and mean. When I look at these kind of things, I only get one feeling that I have to be independent all my life for which I have to be financially strong and I have to be healthy so that in anyway I am not dependent on anyone.

Some times it's difficult to understand if it's all about Karma or it is just that we humans are losing the touch of compassion and kindness towards each other. When we see other people suffer, we also think it must be their karma, but I believe that it may not be about Karma all the time. It can be low level of consciousness also that must be driving people to behave so inhuman towards each other. Also we are so much connected to gadgets now that we do not even realize that there are people around us with who we need to stay connected

Nowadays I see so many young children behaving like zombies, when they are off their gadgets it looks like they are lost, they do not know what to do with their free time if a gadget is not what they are on. They are so self-absorbed that they have no connection with their environment and people around them.

Probably in the next few decades this would be very normal, everyone would be living a life in which only things will matter and value for people and relations will not mean anything, and hence they may never know what it is to be like a real human with emotions and feelings.
