Dissatisfaction of human mind
Whoever came up with this saying, "The Grass is always Green on the other side", is truly a genius person. So true, human mind is like this, always desiring what we do not have. We have evolved to spot on identify what's not ok with us rather than being satisfied with everything that's ok with us. Even when the life is objectively good, our mind keeps scanning for the gaps.
My own example I can give in many parts of my life. At one point of time, I always desired to live for a few years in another country outside of India and experience life in a different angle. But when I got it, I was not feeling completely happy about it. I should have been, after all it was my desire. The reality was that to fulfil that desire I had to make many sacrifices and that left a hole in me not allowing me to feel that extreme happiness.
We tell ourselves; I'll be happy when I get this or that, like getting a car or a dream job or a dream home, or going on the most desirable holiday. Once ww achieve it, for some time it feels good and then again, it's the same story, the expectations resets and the restlessness return with new desires. The social media is also to an extent a major contributor on this. Someone puts up some fancy pictures and we feel we are missing out on something in life.
To be honest, I get carried away when I see travel stories of people. I too want to do all of it. The mind latches on what we show it, and we are all living in this trap where the exit is difficult. What I try to do is I keep reflecting on my actions and thoughts daily to keep a check on if I am not drifting away from reality.
The human mind will probably always be a little dissatisfied. May be that's not a flaw but it can help us keep growing, creating and moving.
