Problems are a part of life

It's common to feel overwhelmed with our problems and it feels like it is the only thing that matters in the world. Sometimes we feel that life is very unfair to us in such times and that all the problems are just in our share. But if we take a step back and look at things and people around us, get to know them more in depth then we may understand that it's not the case, there are many bigger problems in life that many people are dealing with. And when we hear the struggles and problems of other people it puts our own into perspective and we also realize possibly our problem is very insignificant.

Let me give you one e.g. some years back, my husband had major health issues, it was a very intense period for me. He was in Intensive care unit for almost 2 months and I stayed with him at the hospital all the time. I kept feeling why all this problem with me and him and why is life so unfair with us and putting us through it. The problem was major and everyday was a wait and watch situation. There were other patients also in the ICU and I remember this case very clearly, there was a small baby, must be 5 to 6 years, struggling with cancer, in the last stage. When I would see her parents my heart would break, on the outside they looked so strong, but I knew from within they were breaking down seeing their small baby in this condition. That time I felt that their pain was more than mine. I was fighting with God and looking at her made me realize that I was still in a better place. The baby and the parents both were helpless.

Hearing about other people's problem is sometimes a very strong reminder for us that we are not alone struggling in life, almost everyone is fighting their own battles. And if you see someone happy at a certain point of time in their life, that also does not mean that the person has not had their share of problems. When we understand this, we feel liberated from our own toxic thoughts that we have towards life. And also it gives us strength to deal with our own share of problems.

Also comparing our problem brings a sense of gratitude and we can appreciate what we have in life rather than focusing on what we do not have. Again, this does not mean that our problems have no importance, in perspective they may not look serious but for us it may mean a lot. Whenever I put my problem into perspective I get strength to deal with my own. I feel that God has been kind to not put me through the worst that I cannot deal with. It is also said that God gives us problems based on the capacity we have to deal with them.

This is my way to deal with my problems without getting overwhelmed about it.
