Recycling Old to New

There are certain things at my home which I would never like to remove at least in my life time, then after I am gone my family members can do whatever they want. At my father's home, we had a lot of antique furniture and as a young girl I never had any value for it. I always felt it was so outdated and after my father passed away me and my sister removed all of that old furniture, replacing it with new. As time went by I started realizing the value of it and wished that I had kept some of it. At my in-laws place also they have some of this old furniture, which I now value it and want to keep it.

The quality is just beyond comparision, we have beds and a few cupboards which are now almost 100 years old. They were all made by my husband's great grandfather and till date this furniture looks elegant and the wood quality is simply amazing, no match to the current time what is available in the market.

Like how I was, my son also was not happy keeping the old furniture, especially the bed. He wanted his bed to be a little fancy, which would compliment to the current day designs. I put my brain into it and then reached out to one of the architect who is also my friend to help me design the old bed in to a new one, by making some minor changes. He agreed to do the job. The design I already had in mind, I shared with him and he made it exactly that way. I so love the final output and I am happy that the old could be retained. My son is also extremely happy and satisfied with the final result.
