The challenges of our road work

The work has been going on since more then a month now and finally we are seeing some good results of our roads. This is the internal society road so the government body did not take interest in doing it. Finally we all society members came together, contributed money and took it up on ourself to do the roads. Now there also there were road blocks, half the members have still not paid the money, only half have paid so still not all the internal roads are done, but one main road is completed which makes it convenient for people to travel.

I am managing the accounts of the society, and it is so painful to follow up with people for contributions. Since these are mostly holiday homes for many people, it is difficult to connect with them personally. All the connections are through the phone, and it is so surprising that some people choose to be silent forever even after repeated discussions and visible efforts towards getting a proper concrete road done. Every day I follow up, but some just do not respond and mysteriously stay quiet. While there are few of us who constantly invest our time in the development of our society. And those who conveniently choose to ignore will eventually enjoy all the benefits.

Everyone understands that a good motorable road is the basics, and these people who are not paying up, it's not that they cannot afford. They have bought lands and built homes worth crores rupees, and the contribution we are asking is negligible, but still they ignore and stay quiet. When one has this mindset of enjoying benefits without paying for, it reflects on their character, it exposes the mindset of such people who only want everything in free.

Previously the road was like this. Still all the roads are not done, only the main ones. The lanes can only be done if everyone contributes. else it is not possible. Here also some work is done on the leveling part, else the road was extremely bad.
