The road work is finally completed

in #roads15 hours ago

It's been months that our society has been following up with the road contractor to finish the job. The place where my holiday home is, as I mentioned earlier it is in an area which is still not developed. Slowly gradually everything is coming up. The roads were a big mess and we started taking it up in small parts to make it motorable. Our society reached out to the local gram panchayat requesting if they could support with funds for the road. Since some of the internal roads are government roads, ideally it is their responsibility to do it. After a lot of back-and-forth interactions they agreed to do the road.

The tender was approved a year ago and the work was to be completed in 4 months time. But then government affairs we all know how they function. The contractor comes once in a month and then disappears. In bits and pieces, he started the work Feb onwards and if he would do it in one go straight it was not more than a week's job, but as always, he kept disappearing and the job which could be completed in a week's time got completed in 7 months. With these people you cannot even get aggressive and go on a wrong foot else they stop the work completely. Sad affairs but that's the reality.

Here, finally the road work is done. This is only the main path that they have done; we still have to manage on the internal by-lanes. God knows when that will happen.

This is how the roads were previously; these small stones were also laid by us to fill up the big potholes.

It's taken time but it's done, and all is well that ends well.
