The value of a Teacher in Life

All throughout our life we come across people who keep teaching us valuable lessons of life. I do not believe that Teachers are only those who teach in school and universities, but all throughout our lives we keep coming across through teachers in many ways. I have been blessed to have many teachers in my life even after my education was completed, and all these teachers have taught me valuable lessons which I was never taught in school.

When I was very young, I wanted to become a school teacher. If anyone would ask me what I wanted to become when I would grow up, I would say Teacher. This was only because my mom was a Teacher, and whenever I would accompany with her in school, I would see how much importance she would get from all the students. Not only importance but even respect. She was the center of attraction, that's what I would see then and that would fascinate me a lot. I wanted all that attention, respect and to be that one person who is always in demand. My first odd job was also teaching. I would home tutor kindergarten children and I was good at it. I felt strongly that this would be my life path.

Then somewhere, destiny had other things stored in for me and I took all together a very different path. But then somewhere deep down, the teacher spirit was always there in me and I missed being that. After many years, in my job I got opportunity to be in the Leadership training department in my company, and while it was not a teacher tag, it did became a teaching job, and though I had no training, it all came natural to me, like I was born with those skills. And once again, I got that feeling of being in demand and respected.

I have been on both sides, being a student and a teacher all my life now, and I know how much effort a teacher takes to impart the education and that's why I have huge respect for this profession. I also see that Teachers are looked upon with great expectations. It is like they can never be wrong, as if they are super humans. It's a huge responsibility of being that person, because whatever education you are imparting somewhere shapes up the student character in some way. Especially if it's dealing with young children where the Teacher plays the most important role in their life, the teacher has to be very responsible.

It's a blessing to have a good teacher in life who not only imparts education but also helps in shaping up minds and future of individuals and society as a whole. They are the role models of life.
