A destination wedding
These days destination wedding is becoming a trend. This new trend is breaking the typical stereotypes wedding celebrations. My friend's daughter got married this week and she also planned the wedding at her farm house which is around 3 hours from the city, in a nice natural environment set up. In a normal Indian wedding there are a minimum of 600 to 800 guests. But in a destination wedding the crowd gets limited, it gets cut down to maximum of 200 to 300. It also depends on individual's capacity to spend. But considering that all the logistics need to be arranged the crowd does get cut down by at least 50%. Which then comes down to inviting only those people who really mean something to you, and not that you invite anyone and everyone, which generally happens in Indian weddings. The younger generation prefers it this way, and I too like this idea.
During my time, we children could not have much of say in the wedding, it all happened as per what the parents would plan. But now it is a different scenario. It makes sense, because after all the couple who is getting married should have all the right to decide how they would want to celebrate their big day. In my circle, now all our children have grown up, so weddings are coming up for them. With that it's such a wonderful reflection of our friendship which has been from the time of our wedding and even before that and now our children's weddings and it will continue.
This wedding was a 2 day affair, starting on day 1 with Sangeet. In Sangeet there is dance and music, mostly all choregraphed ones done by family and friends in honor of th bride and groom. In the evening we had a Cocktail party and then on day 2 morning was the wedding ceremony followed with lunch. There was a dress code for all the events. For Cockatils we had to wear something black and for the wedding a traditional attire.
Sharing some pictures from the event.
