Preparing for a Audit

Day after tomorrow one of my clients is having an important audit to be conducted on them by one of their customers. Since past 10 days we are all occupied in preparations of the audit. It is a full company audit of every process and every department so we need to make sure that all documents are in place and the office is in perfect order as they are an important customer. As such we have everything the only problem is, it's not in order. In day to day work we miss setting things in order. Sometimes to get that in order it takes more time then the actual work, that's been the case with us right now.

Company Audits are good in a way I believe, they will keep the Company owners alert and have their processes in place. But till the time it happens everyone is on their toes. I am losing my sleep over it. Last night I suddenly woke up at 3:00 a.m. and then was only thinking about it. Just making mental notes of what is completed and what is pending as now it's only 2 days to it.

In the past I've facilitated many audits and they have all been smooth, but this time I am feeling nervous. I've never been so paranoid over these things, guess age is catching up on me. Also this particular client, their house is never in order and the owner is also vert reckless, not taking up responsibility and ownership of his own business and hence this is making me nervous. If the owner would behave responsibly then probably I would be relaxed. I feel responsible as a consultant for things to happen in the right manner. But it's not in my hands alone, everyone in the Company also has to support. I can only give advice to an extent.

Now let's see how day after tomorrow goes. I am just hoping that everything goes smooth and we have no non-conformances.
