Japan's Bullet Trains - Shinkasen
Japan's bullet trains are considered to be one of the fastest modes of land transport. When people talk about Japanese efficiency, they mean the Shinkasen which is their bullet trains. The trains run at 300 Km/hr and they feel so normal, not a jerk nor a shake; it runs smooth as hell. The trains are extremely punctual, not even a minute late, and cleanliness is top notch.
Japanese started their high-speed rails in 1964 for the Olympics between Tokyo and Osaka and since then they have just kept progressing. The fastest Shinkasen hits a speed of 320 km/hr. If you visit Japan, you must experience the Shinkasen. I had booked my travel from Tokyo to Osaka and back on Shinkasen. They have special fares as well if booked in advance. If you book 3 months in advance then you will get a Green car, which is their business class in price less then economy class. I booked a month in advance and still got a good deal. I got a business class seat for a fare of normal economy. It's worth it to spend and experience this journey.
There are multiple Shinkasen lines and routes, it can get confusing, but at the stations there is good level of assistance. If the train is late even for 30 seconds, they would make an announcement. When the train leaves the station, the staff will bow down. It's all top-notch service and courtesness that they show. From the speed one can judge the technology part of it, but to add on that they are so advanced that if there is an Earthquake, there is an early warning system and the train auto-brakes before the shaking starts. Just too good.
While booking you need to be careful, if you have heavy luggage then you need to pay additional for it for the special luggage seat ad big bags cannot go overhead.
Sharing some pictures from my Shinkasen journey

This is the Green car; the seats are very comfortable and big and a good level of recline.
There is charging point and overhead light.

The stations are also very well maintained, at every 50 meters or probably even lesser, there is a wending machine with variety of drinks and snacks.

There are clear markings everywhere at the station.

Overall, a good experience and a must do.
